Thanks to ds (not quite two) i have a hallway covered in oil, i have mopped up the pool and wiped it but it is sooo slippery and i really dont want to make it worse

Looks lovely and shiney though, like a new floor

loads of hot hot soapy water and clean a couple more times

StevieDunton · 03/03/2010 10:57

cover it with flour and then clean off? will give you more to clean up in short term but flour should soak up the oil

DorotheaPlenticlew · 03/03/2010 10:57

I know this sounds weird but what about sprinkling it with something absorbent, like a small amount of flour, then mopping it up?

Realize it might be gross and messy but perhaps in the end would help ...
or perhaps not!

I used to work in a restaurant kitchen, whenever we spilled oil, we used to clean up as much as possible then sprinkle loads of salt over it.
The salt soaks up any remaining oil, which can be swept/hoovered up then we used to wash the floor with neat washing up liquid before rinsing well.

What sort of floor? If it's not delicate, you could try cat litter crushed up into dust. Same idea as the flour, I suppose.

ninedragons · 03/03/2010 11:02

Ah, sorry, I've just noticed it's laminate.

I'd go for salt, then, as the previous poster suggested when I was typing my less sensible idea.

littleducks · 03/03/2010 11:25

cant do the hot soapy water as its laminate, you can get it damp, a bit wet but not wash it

will try salt

THANK YOU
