Those who have clean, immaculate cars, how do you do it?

Our family has a very , very, old car. I am actually quite good about keeping it tidy and clutter-free. (Took me quite a few years to get to this stage, though!)

I am , at heart, very lazy but I have started vacuuming the car on a fairly regular basis and not letting junk accumulate in it. But I wouldn't exactly say it's clean because I can't really vacuum out mud/ground-in dirt.

Sometime in the next 6 months we're hoping to get a new car. (fingers crossed). I hate the idea of finally owning a lovely brand new car (never had one before) and it slowly getting dirtier despite my best efforts.

so, how do all you well-organised people do it? How do you keep your car sparkly clean? valeting and if so, how often?

I take mine into a hand car wash every now and again and make DS1 and DS2 hoover it out seeing as they make the mess !

Captain, I already recruit DS2 to help me hoover it out on a regular basis, he loves it!

Seat covers and boot liner. Didn't know they even existed so will look into those - thanks!

Tesco hand wash inside and out every couple of months. It does get filthy and I love a clean car.

Buy rubber mats to put in foot wells - then you can wash/hose when dirty. Boot liner essential too.
No food or drink - EVER
Take all rubbish (parking slips etc) with you when leaving car.
Some kind of box/ bag in boot to keep all essentials in (scrapers/deicer/torch/first aid etc).
We have new car (business reasons) every 3 yrs and it always looks pristine when we trade it in.
Like most things it just takes a bit of effort on a regular basis.

thanks, RockBird and Dorothyredboots! I do keep our current car tidy (and always take all rubbish out when I park it) but the mud really builds up. also, the 'trim' gets mucky.

ok, so I need:

• rubber mats
• boot liner
• seat cover
• regular interior hand wash
• complete ban on food and drink.

I have a "car bin" an elderly relative got me one christmas. From M&S I think. It fits around the back of the headrest. I would find a food ban impossible!

In our local big tescos there are handsome valet blokes. I intend to use them when I get a new car.

I got a brand new car last year. Was adamant I was going to keep it clean. Cleaned it two week after getting it, then about two months after having it, then maybe once since!

I'm going to take it in to be valeted at the end of the month. £25 they do inside and out and make it all look new again. I think I might jsut take it in once a month.
