what furniture do you have under your stairs?

We moved in 2 months ago and still trying to decide what to put where. The under stairs space is quite large and is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door so needs to look attractive.

Have cream wallpaper with a muted gold pattern - not my choice but ok and won't be redecorated in the near future, and parquet floor (medium honeyish colour). I am completely stumped.

Maybe should have posted this in general property section??

Difficult one. We have a floor to ceiling shelving unit which is essentially a series of boxes. We had it made to our bespoke specification to fit the space. We use it for some books but also things like photographs in frames, a vase, etc.

However, I think it's important that whatever you put there meets your needs. If you need some sort of console table to put your keys & post on, then I'd got for that.

Its currently a dumping ground for school stuff so probaby need somehting to hide that out of the way but also needs to look nice as a piece of furniture and in keeping with the room so more Laura sahley than ikea.
Shelving would be useful

With shelving high above it and coat hooks on the side wall.
