Any ideas of how to clean my Ugg/Emu boots please?

Just wondering if anyone has successfully got rid of dirty water marks and stains from their Uggs or Emus. I've tried a damp cloth and have made more marks than I started with Also, quite a bit of the colour came off on the cloth, so I didn't want to make a 'patch'.
Any tried and tested methods and tricks welcome!

I need to clean mine & read about using special hand wool wash given it's a natural material like pure new wool. Patch test perhaps on the inside ankle bit? Dilute it down with warm water & use a clean white cloth.

I had this problem and popped them in the washing machine on a low temp wash. Came out almost as good as new. I was very scared though when I did it! I put them in a pillowcase and then when I needed to dry them, stuffed them with newspaper and left them by the gas fire.
