Can i make a rug out of a piece of carpet? How do I go about it?

Hope I'm posting this in the right section.

I would love a new rug for my DS playroom. I don't want to be too precious about it getting marked, and therefore don't want to pay too much for one of about 2m by 2m (they're all £150 plus in the shops- out of my price range!)

Is it possible to buy a piece of carpet and get the edges bound? (I think it's called whip-stitching?) Has anyone done this or anyone know where I may be able to get this done?

We had our done at Carpet Right, although we did buy the carpet there and had the offcut done. You could try your local one. Or any decent carpet shop tbh.

Thanks a million maureen. Might even wait to see if they have January sales to save even more £££s.

Yes - my local indepedent carpet shop sells VERY REASONABLE offcuts - all nicely edged and everything - you should get one that size for less than £50 easily.

yes i have had stuff whipped before, a piece of coir left over from my stairs and landing. it was cheap as chips to get it done, i just googled carpet whipping or something and a company came up. they collected and delivered too!
