I can't seem to manage on £600 per month. My dh takes care of bills etc but I seem to be getting through an inordinate amount of money each month. This does include dd's friend's birthday gifts (a lid of £10 per child has been imposed!), uniform items for dd, all birthday gifts for family/friends etc. Curious to know how you all manage and if my amount is ott.

It takes a lot of money to keep me in gin and furs

£600 is cheap

I also have a ds age 3 Plus we seem to get through an awful lot of food (and we have two kittens and a cat). I also buy all children's clothes and sundry items.

too much

prob around the £800 mark easily (but at last £350 of that is diesel)

MrsJohnDeere · 10/12/2009 22:08

£600 seems quite modest to me.

OMG! I am so pleased you are saying this. I thought I was being frivolous with it even though I rarely go out, buy myself stuff or lunch out. I am finding it hard to manage on this amoumnt. It is not so mucn the food (around £90 for a big supermarket shop) per week but all the other bits and pieces. Mostly for dd - school trips, tights, school bits etc.

The £90 does not necessrily cover the week as there is always extra bread, fruit etc to buy

i would love to only spend 600 per month , your doing well.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 11/12/2009 11:56

I manage on 600 + child benefit - but only just!

TheChewyToffeeMum · 11/12/2009 11:57

Forgot to say that is for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 cats.

cruisemum1 · 11/12/2009 13:36

ihatethecold - I am not doing well - htat is the point! I never manage on that and am overdrawn every month which leaves me worse off the following month and so on...
TheChewyToffeeMum - I am one cat up on you then! Also my Mum comes to stay twice a month for two nights/three days so that is extra too. I will have to speak to dh - I need a payrise!
