Morning

Freakoid on your behalf, can you send an email to their customer services/complaints department threatening legal action? Try the citizens advice bureau, they may have some helpful advice for you.

Ali - we had a bit of a tidy upstairs while DD had a splash around in the bath last night. DH did our room and i did DD's (which now looks like a bomb has hit it after leaving her in there for 10minutes this morning) Downstairs we don't have any carpet which helps, but i have a feeling the sofas need a really good clean, they are navy blue, so he dirt doesn't show but they smell a bit funky

Definitely started perking up a bit now wrt the sickness and exhaustion. 10weeks now and i know it should get better from here.

I will do a list of things that i want to get done this week:

Tidy sitting room
Hoover sofas
Clean rug
Sort coats out that hang in the hall
Hoover stairs
Sweep and mop hall floor
Clean bathroom

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/01/2010 13:04

Freakoid for you.

Alice - today I have mopped all the downstairs (wooden/stone floors), opened windows and have put cat bowls in the dishwasher. Things seem much fresher.
DS did a small wee on his pillow so that is in the washer along with all his bedding and his mattress is outside airing (just in case).

You could try some essential oils to make it smell nicer downstairs? Lavender is always nice (and cheap). Put it in the mop bucket or on the radiator.

To make life easier I am going to send all the rest of the bedding to the laundrette as just can't get stuff dry here.

Today
Breakfast done
Clear away breakfast things done
Pilates/walk done
Vitamins done

FreakoidOrganisoid · 19/01/2010 13:27

Am a bit calmer now

Alice I agree, open up the windows and hoover/mop if you have the energy. Where was dh sick? A bit of bleach down the loo? I use antibac wipes to wipe round the seat/outside of the bowl etc-makes the process feel a bit less yucky than using a cloth!

Plum that's the mattress I have. had the pillowtop with H and I did like the no roll aspect for the fact that when he broke all the springs on his side mine was unaffected but the pillowtop bit did go a bit lumpy.

DD is still ill and I'm feeling can't be arsedy so not mch hosework is getting done. Really should do the ironing and put the clothes away though- I was on top of it but now have a mountain

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/01/2010 13:47

Freakoid - so difficult to get anything done when they are miserable? Cbeebies?

DD asleep at the min which is why I've got something done. She'll be up any minute though...

Alicetheinvisible · 19/01/2010 14:13

Today i have:

Got myself and DD dressed
Done breakfast for me and DD
Put the dishwasher on
Organised some washing into different piles for different drawers
Done lunch (with help from DH)
Fallen asleep on the sofa
Changed the cat's water.

I am exhausted, but just wolfed down a mini flake and a chomp so slightly shaky from sugar rush

To do:

Get some carrots for the horses
Muck out both of the horses, hay and water

I have opened the windows upstairs and last night after putting clean sheets on the bed i put a drop of lavender essential oil on one of the pillows. Our bedroom always smells musty, but i try to have the window open a lot and we have clean sheets once a week.

Jolene2 · 19/01/2010 14:20

JKS - I am in awe, I am terrified of cleaning my oven....I find the whole thing so unpleasant - the smell of the stuff and the elbow grease required! Ecover power cleaner is a lot less wheeze inducing but still..... always a task way, way down on my list. In another notebook. Aheam

Think your plan re sticking ITNG figures on cake is a good one. DS1 has dairy allergy so all character cakes are out. I made a rice crispie cake "mountain" and put lots of dinosaur figures on it. He was so pleased with it.

TODAY:

  • Talk to DS1 about new reward chart done
  • School dinner money done HURRAY
  • Small supermarket shop done
  • go to health food shop done
  • buy new lightshade for hallway done
  • buy gift for friend done
  • Buy school shirt & jumper for DS1

  • Washing - 1 load done, 2 to go...
  • Email DS1's trust fund details to my dad done
  • Email (dinosaur) boss re various work things
  • Check email done
  • Post thank you card to friends re weekend done
  • return Love Film DVD done
  • clean fridge
  • Ask school re visiting after school club
  • Ring school friend
  • Ring Granny
  • email friends re birthday outing next month
  • file household paperwork

The Big list is too big to contemplate today - need small things to tick off!

Alicetheinvisible · 19/01/2010 14:27

Jolene - you should do it while the oven is still warm and soda crystals do an amazing job!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/01/2010 14:54

Hi Jolene (again . Ditto Alice. Apparently there is something in Fairy liquid that sorts out your warm oven. So said the oven repair man.
He also said that lots of the super strong chemical oven cleaners can wreak your oven by being sprayed into the element through the vent and not being wiped off (as you can't get behind the vent) can dissolve the element, one of his top reasons for being called out or so he said. Fascinating eh.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/01/2010 14:54

It was 50% fairy liquid 50% water in a cup, rub onto oven then wipe away.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/01/2010 15:41

Alice - it is DHs that make bedrooms smell funny! Get some pillow protectors if you don't use them (or just use 2 pillow cases), and also a mattress protector. I change the underneath pillowcase once every 2/3 weeks and the mattress protector gets washed every couple of months - more in the summer because it can't be tumble dried.
We also buy new pillows once a year because they do get a bit musty etc after a while and I have never managed to wash one without it going all lumpy and horrid!

Jolene - that dinosaur cake sounds fab!

I need to go and do jobs but I can't be bothered. So tempting to just close my laptop and go to sleep lying here....

I'll try to figure out how to get a pic of it up. May take a while though... not good with technology. Will try the oven cleaning tips, thanks!

Right about general air of mustiness being fault of DH's I reckon! My bedroom in my flat never smelt like that.... We have a L'Occitane room spray which is very nice.
