Everyone welcome, newcomers and old(ish) flappers alike!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I will also be posting Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm making the coffee and brewing tea. There might even be toast...

Good luck!

Plutothatpresentdown · 04/12/2009 16:17

Right, I've done the other three easy thing on my list and I'm going to take a leaf out of Swanriver's book and go upstairs and do the ironing. Both DS's seem happy enough entertaining themselves so I have no excuse. Back in an hour to let you know how much I did.

MellieChristmas · 04/12/2009 16:53

Hi all, quic update. Thank you for all your kind wishes. DD still very poorly in fact am having a quick break then we are going up to A and E because she hasn't done a wee since 6 am this morning .

Hopefully be back soon with better news

dreamingofawhitexmasteamgirl · 04/12/2009 17:22

OMG, will post properly later, but huge hugs to Mellie and DD
Hope she is better very soon and do please let us know xx
DTG

Plutothatpresentdown · 04/12/2009 17:50

Mellie - your poor DD - and how dreadful for you too. Thinking of you both.

My ironing mountain has reduced to a small hillock but somehow that doesn't seem so important anymore.

PositivelyFestive · 04/12/2009 17:50

Mellie Hope DD is ok. Get her to A&E, or Out of hours Doc. I trained as a nurse, so please listen - she needs to be seen! Get the right antibiotics into the poor little thing and she will be fine very quickly.

Up date on my miserably small, pathetic list today:
Go to PO with a parcel - Mega queue at first one, so drove to second and could not park, so have given up until tomorrow!
Phone about my naff hoover problem and get it fixed! - Put off again until tomorrow!
Meeting at 2pm where I am going to complain about DD3s school. - meeting went well. First time someone has listened to me in 15 months. Even got the nearest thing to an apology out of them and the lady confirmed that they had lied to us and "serious mistakes" had been made in the past. WHOA!

To add to this pathetic example for this evening I will attempt to sort through (and maybe iron) 3 loads of washing. But then, is there rugby on telly tonight? Don't hold me to that one if there is!

have a good evening everyone.

SantasBigboots · 04/12/2009 17:53

Hope Mellie's DD is ok.

Have done as much as I think I will today - except cleaning lounge carpet once DS's are in bed. This afternoon have:

Stripped and re-made beds (must try to do that in the morning)
Hoovered
Tidied kitchen
Put a load of stuff in the loft
Taken soaking washing off the line and hung it on the airer
Made tea for two starving and very tired children

Am now about to take DS's to panto rehearsal - looking forward to a bath and some wine later (DH had better notice the difference when he gets back...)

optimistletoemumma · 04/12/2009 19:44

Mellie - hope your DD gets better very quickly. Let us know how you get on at A and E.
Huge (((hugs))) to you...

Wine open and on the side, dips, nibbles and anything else you all fancy - my fridge is bursting!!!

swanriver · 04/12/2009 20:54

Best wishes for your little one Mellie - hope they saw you straight away

Finally put all the ironing away
it was baked beans tonight as a result
and hoovered the whole house while dh was playing a board game at 7.00 with them
still tidying up now, slowly putting thngs back in shelves and away in drawers

Think for the first time won't wake up on Sat morning and think aargh
Making a list for tomorrow so won't have a clash with dh over what is happening when and where

MulleredOnWine · 04/12/2009 21:50

hi all
am not doing so well, have friends over tomorrow and wanted to be all cooked and prepared with house all christmassy.....
ended up doing mad trolley dash 5 mins before closing last night, and have only done half the cooking oh well - mulled wine is quick to make. i wonder how nigella and delia manage it....

sink shined done but messed up again
current zone not done
toddler to 2 classes and baby fed - done!

pushmepullssantassleigh · 04/12/2009 21:53

Mellie thinking of you and your DD. Hope she's feeling much better very soon.

to everyone else . Well done on your lists all - much better than me today

Gotta go . Mil in an attempt to be helpful has washed (but not dried ) the 5 loads of laundry I did yesterday so I am spending the evening trying to dry them again!

mummyclaus · 04/12/2009 22:13

Hi everyone - another busy day of the fledgling thread
As you seemed to appreciate the round up yesterday, I'll try to do it every day (unless you have all gone quiet)

Mellie hope you are home from the hospital with a DD who is on the mend ((hugs)) for you both
OM tescos successfully negotiated again Thanks for the doughnuts - I grabbed one for on the train coming home. Sinking wine now
MrsD busy, busy, busy!
SSCat well done keeping that sink shining - I can see it gleaming from here
HARudolph should we start an 'If I pretend its not happening christmas will not happen yet' thread?
swanjnr thanks for the message
swan fab work getting that ironing pile done and put away - that's always the hardest part for me
Pluto your DH got the 'DH medal of the day' yesterday. Good start on that ironing
PFestive at good meeting. Glad it went well for you. Hopefully they will deliver what they agreed today
SCBaubles little babysteps when you feel up to it
SBBoots fantastic flying. Hope DH appreciates what you have acheived while he's been away
DTWXTGirl I trust you are shing your sink as I type
Mullered the only christmassy things in our house are DS's advent calendars! DS has written on my white board 'put christmas decorations up on saturday or sunday' Think I'll send DH into the loft to find them when he gets home from work tomorrow. You are doing just fine. You did shine your sink today. They are there to be used. It is hard with a baby so give yourself a break and do a bit tomorrow (you know where to bring any left over mulled wine tomorrow night)
PMPSantassleigh what would we do without 'helpful' MILs! Mine keeps threatening to move closer but I don't find myself able to encourage her somehow...

Tired tonight so not done all my list but I've got the weekend to catch up on missions etc
breakfast done
DS dressed done
empty WM & DW done
DH up done
make lunch (might cheat and buy today) did
mission no will do it tomorrow as part of home blessing
sort bills (actually managed to do some yesterday - just 2 files and the huge pile on the spare room floor to go!) too tired
dinner done
finish ironing done some
put washing away done
1 load in WM done
declutter dining table tomorrow
s&s done
shine sink done
roundup of everyone's day done!
bed on time

If I'm going to get to bed on time I'd better go - see you in the morning

StainlessSteelCat · 04/12/2009 22:29

Mellie - I hope all is well with you and DD.

pushme - I really don't know whether to laugh or cry at your MiL's "assistance". Have a feeling you weren't laughing though ...

mullered - I like your list, it looks soo much like mine today

today I:
played with the kids, took DS to class, got DS to create wish list for Santa, fed everyone, bathed some of them, and had a lovely chat and coffee with a mate. I also forgot totally about my to do list, so much so I'm not even going to go and look at it again now.

Am away until tuesday, will play catch up then, have a lovely weekend all

pushmepullssantassleigh · 04/12/2009 22:51

mc love the round up it's fab! You are a fantastic leader what with the coffee and everything

SSC can't wait until DD is old enough for wishlists etc. So looking forward (poss in a deluded way) to the 'magic of Christmas' in a year or two's time.

Dh and I have just had a tense exchange of views regarding my ingratitude to helpful mil. Until I pointed out that if someone at work had deleted the report he's spent all day working on he would have hit the roof, at which point he sloped off sheepishly and is now watching supernanny

Ah well, off to reload the dryer and rearrange the airer

DontEatMountains · 04/12/2009 23:32

Evening ladies. Had a lovely evening to regroup kill myself and enjoyed every moment. feeling a bit more human and making most of boy free weekend but getting basic weekly wash/weeks worth of lesson plans and assignment tackled. Only hve til lunch sunday but nice to focus on it rather then squeese in here and there.

Mellie hope dd is ok.

Night off to bed

Plutothatpresentdown · 04/12/2009 23:57

Enjoy your "me" time DEM

I shall make sure DH gets his medal MC as long as I don't have to shine it as well as the sink...in fact I have to confess that sink shining hasn't happened every night this week.

Weekend to do list:

Dust and hoover in living room so that Xmas tree and decs can go up. (Me)

Declutter understairs cupboard, kitchen hot spot and dresser drawer. (me)

Finish ironing and put away.(I'll do the ironing, Ds1 and DH can put away)

Room rescue loft room - I'm going to make this a family mission this weekend as everyone is responsible for the mess up there so they can all help sort it out. (Team Pluto)

Sweep out side return and garden post dreadful weather. (DS1 - overseen by DH)

Look cute and chew socks: DS2

Decorate the tree in a messy unbalanced disaster contemporary creative fashion DS1

I'm not going to post any more this weekend - just going to get on and try to get some things done and stay of MN for a bit so see you all on Monday - have a good weekend everyone.

mummyclaus · 05/12/2009 06:43

Good morning! Why does DS wake me up early on Saturdays?

Today's babystep is a catch up one so nothing new to add to your routine

No mission today as its the weekend so I'm going to try to do those I didn't get to during the week

Holiday mission involves going into the far reaches of your fridge - lets be careful in there!

"HOLIDAY SUPER CRUISING MISSION #5

We are cruising ahead and gearing up for the Holidays!!!

Today is the day to toss out the leftovers from the refrigerator!! It is time to toss the potential science projects and wipe down the shelves. Toss those 3/4 empty condiments and the packets of condiments from the fast food restaurants! We all have them LOL!!!

Turn on some Holiday music, set your timer and fling out the fridge!!"

I'll think about a list once I've woken up

See you all later! (except Pluto - enjoy your family fly this weekend)

Cadmum · 05/12/2009 06:57

I am desperate to re-join you.

Following on 8 weeks of morning-sickness and an absentee dh for most of that time, our house is a national disaster area and my parents arrive for Christmas on December 11th.

Ds1 has hockey this morning but this afternoon will have to be filled with chores. I can't even decide where to start though.

The main living floor is somewhat presentable as we had company round with a baby last Saturday so maybe I will consider the 1st floor with the bedrooms first.

Did I mention that my kitchen sink (in our rental house) is an ancient, unsatisfying, porous material that can never be shiny so even step one is an impossible dream...

yawningmonster · 05/12/2009 08:17

right Im back, ds had tummy bug, dd went 6 days without any nappy action and then mount poohvious erupted big time and as a consequence house looks worse than when I started so (is night time here)
List for tomorrow is
shine sink
compost tipped over and spread
2 loads of washing
find use for leftover tomatoes (might bottle them if very organised0
clean out car so that I can fit both children into it
clean toilets (am still doing twice a day as ds' tummy bug was vile and do not want anyone else to get it and them bugs live for ages after symptoms go)
help ds with his blasted roman citadel thingee which is driving me just a little insane
um right think that will do for the meantime...

mummyclaus · 05/12/2009 09:34

Hi Cadmum welcome on board!
It may look like you have an impossible mission on your hands but set a timer for 15 minutes per job and see how much you get done Please remember to have 15 minutes 'off' every hour to sit down/play with DC/have a coffee. I find it easier if I write down a plan first rather than just diving in.
Do stop by later and let us know how you got on
Good luck!

Welcome back yawning - lots of ventilation for today I think

Stillcountingthebaubles · 05/12/2009 13:44

Just diving in to say "hello". Thanks for the steps Mummyclaus particularly when you must be so busy in the run up to Christmas - the new name really suits you btw! Your da!aily posts provide a very reassuring (not to mention motivating) start to the day ...

Welcome to all newcomers and waves microfibre cloths at everyone else ...

Any news from Mellie about her dd?

Wishing everyone else who is poorly or indisposed a speedy recovery ....

Still no time to catch up with everyone individually ...apologies

I'm back on my feet but as luck would have it, dd now ill (and up coughing for two nights running) with suspected H1N1 (her school confirmed their first case this week) so still very much behind.

St Nicolas (who brings all the major presents over here!!) is arriving tomorrow (6th Dec) so I will have my work cut out just getting the sitting room (and most importantly the fireplace) cleared in preparation!!

At least I ordered new slippers for dd in good time (in which the marzipan animals/choc coins and clementines will reside!!)

Good news is that laundry is very much under control despite missing a week's Flying - nothing less than a miracle! Never would have happened before the advent (geddit?) of this thread! So thanks again everyone!

Have a good w/e and good luck with all the holiday prep ....

Anyone else celebrating St Nicolas tomorrow? WtheD maybe? (Don't know if it is a Breton thing.) Hope your first week at work went well btw!!

walkthedinosaur · 05/12/2009 14:20

Hello all,

I'm actually sat at my computer catching up with paid work but have shown DH my control journal and also pointed out to him the state of my sink, was most definitely not shiny and he's setting to like a good un downstairs. I'm going to be here all night so I reckon he should have the whole downstairs done by the time I've finished .

Hope your DD is feeling a bit better Mellie

We don't celebrate St Nicholas on 6th December here SCTB here it's 24th December where families get together and eat oysters [yuk] and I think open their pressies at midnight, and then it's back to normal by Boxing Day.

Right back to earning a crust, I can hear DH complaining about something downstairs but I refuse to be drawn into a cleaning discussion with him. Let him walk in my shoes for a day I say.

Hope everyone is having a fun Saturday.

MrsDingDongMerrily · 05/12/2009 16:46

Hi, hope everyone is well or improving this afternoon, esp Mellies DD.

ILs visiting this weekend, we have been out to see Santa in his grotto this afternonn, which was lovely. Grandma is giving DCs an early bath to play with the bath toys Santa gave them and there is a lasagne in the oven. Peace reigns (for now).

I am not doing much with the missions at the moment, Christmas has taken over a bit, but I am tackling hotspots when I find them, instead of ignoring them and hoping they will go away. Have established a laundry routine which really works well, instead of just stumbling through it, and am finding that tackling a different bit of the bathroom every day along with the toilet is keeping it looking much more sparkling than just doing the whole thing randomly whenevery it got yucky. So, very happy with this whole Flying thing. I have had to disable Flyladies emails though, they were killing me and I can't seem to find how to put it on Daily Digest.

Oh well, that was not such a quick post (Grandma is doing a sterling job in the bathroom). Have a nice evening everyone.

SantasBigboots · 05/12/2009 20:48

Hi everyone - Mummyclaus you are fab!!!

Basking happily in a glow of satisfaction at the mo - DH v. impressed with shiny house!

Today I have:
Cleaned lounge, hall, landing and bathroom carpets
Blitzed the bathroom (it now smells like a swimmimg pool)
Cleared out toy cupboard, put all the bits back in the right boxes and made a big pile to go to a car boot in the spring (loft in the meantime)
...and cleaned the fridge!

Feeling very Christmassy as just back from village Christmas Market and bought tree and wreath for front door this pm. DS's nativity and my school's Christmas concert next week - can't wait!!!
Hoping that Mellie's dd is recovering...
