galen you are on fire!
TM hoorah for xmas presents being sorted! I have a few bits but not much.
Ruby when do you start work or have you started?
swan am at kitten!
I have been to the vets. One abscess already infected, other one getting there. Two injections for poor cat. The vet said she couldn't lance the healed over abscess, but it may dissipate with the antibiotics, or come to a point and burst [eww] otherwise she'll have to sedate him and lance it. it was only £60 for injections and consultation today! These pets are lovely but expensive. Ours aren't insured unfortunately.
Had that sort of a day today like ordinary yesterday - I have been chasing my tail all day but not done anything on my list except lidl and see the vet.
School pick up time nearly already!
see you later on

swanriver · 21/09/2009 14:57

Galen, LOL at dog rescuing you from mutant breadmaker

afternoon has progressed at snail's pace here
booked Xmas plane tickets to Eire
and halfterm ditto (dh paid)
lots of ironing done
2 more washes hung up
dw unloaded and reloaded
ds2 semi-entertained

EHM, ditto drawers - the broken jewellery (of lttle but sentimental value) is the worst as keep thinking might reuse beads etc but I am no Ruby alas
Scatty, I think it comes in waves. Very hard to live with. At least if you are sympathetic you know you have done your best to listen. What more can you do? If they complain about same thing over and over then you know there's a problem and it's not just nerves.

swanriver · 21/09/2009 15:03

x-posts everyone

scattyspice · 21/09/2009 15:58

Hi all.

Thanks for the help with ds. I also found a very helpful thread (quite a few people having this problem ATM it would seem and mostly around his age so not alone). He came out of school full of beans (usually does). Ironically, dd had her 1st (nearly) full day and met Ds in the playground for the first time. He described how he and his friends were looking for her and he 'rushed over' as soon as he saw her. DD then cried for him when they had to go back in because she 'missed him'. I said what a soppy lot we are and DS laughed. I think it will do him good to be the 'carer' lol.

wendy you have quite put me off having pets lol.

tea don't mention Xmas (cue hyperventilation).

ruby when do you start?

EHM I'm sorry that your cat had to be put down. It's nice that you were able to find her a home with a lovely couple, though.

I'm not sure if the neighbour went to work in the end. The car is still where it conked out but perhaps his Dad is going to help him jump start it this evening. I knew that if he was going to take me up on the offer of a lift then it would be within half an hour as the bus goes at a quarter to so there wouldn't be any point after that.

Ruby I giggled at the whimper! My answer to lots of things is sorting stuff out and new stationery!

swanriver I loved keeping chickens as a child. Although there is work involved, it was worth it.

galen When dd got home I told her "There's bad news dd. Some burglars have got in and they've ransacked your room. There's stuff everywhere! Floor, bed, choccie wrappers and a choccie box nicked from the kitchen cupboard, dirty clothes etc etc." She laughed.

Right. I need to get on with my sewing and to remember to watch the second part of Waking the dead. I missed the second part last week. Does anyone know what happened by any chance?

grouchyoscar · 21/09/2009 20:20

HELLO all I have been busy today. Morning routines,Trip to next town for sewing supplies, back and of to work, home, make up GOjrs sofa bed, collect him from school, make dinner, serve, tidy away, load and run DW, make bedtime tea. Phew

Tomorrow is a slobbing day for me. I have to sew on the beaver badges tomorrow too.

I'll enjoy it

galen · 21/09/2009 20:21

evening all

swan very organised booking tickets already!

ehm how sad about your cat. Still, hope it is some comfort knowing she went to a loving home and would have been loved till the end

scatty porr DS, though sounds like he had a good day. My DD3 is also having a bit of a hard time adjusting to her new year.
(also hyperventilating at mention of Christmas!)

ruby gosh starting next week... I'm sure it will be fine once you adjust to the new routine. And 7 cleared drwers - wow!

Well a good afternoon, reasonable early evening followed by total dterioration into mayhem

DS1 driving us through the roof... his room was totally unimginably bad, despite being told 3 times to tidy it at wk/end...so after lots of shouting and arguing he ended up not being allowed to go to scouts and doing his room instead.
Now feel very sad that he missed scouts ... but it was a reasonable consequence really and I am very bad at following through at consequences(too soft LOL)... hence he never makes much of an effort...
Oh bum ...now more arguing with Dh and ds1... oh some one tell me what to do with teenagers...HELP , and he's only 11

DD4 also in "stubborn" mood, refused to put PJs on.....

Still littlies in bed, DD1 and 2 reading ...now going to sleep...

house decent

Have done:
mopped dining room floor
Dinner done and cleared
laundry reboot
remade beds
walked dog
DW on

Tomorrow:
Hoover stairs
Blackberry picking in woods with DD4 and DS2 and doggy if rain stops...
change littlies bed/cot
make apple and blackberry pie if we get blackberries - apple pie if not LOL
Write to stupid mobile phone company to demand refund (long story - I ordered 1 phone, they sent 2, now wont refund me or collect unwanted phone...grrr.)
hmm sure there was more... will have to ponder!

BB tomorrow ladies.

galen · 21/09/2009 20:28

oh simply you sound to have handled your DD's room so much better than me. Did she tidy it? Thing is we asked him calmly and nicely to do it 3 tomes at wk/end and he assured us it was done... till we checked LOL Hmm thing is being laid back and nice doesnt seem to get results with DS1 at the mo... oh talk to me about teenagers pleae I'm scared LOL I can do toddlers now, but teenagers are a whole different story LOL

GO sounds a busy day. enjoy tomorrow ( I LATH sewing on scout badges LOL)

galen · 21/09/2009 20:29

"LOATH" sewing on badges...

OrdinarySAHM · 21/09/2009 20:35

grouchyoscar · 21/09/2009 20:37

Simply WTD last week was a bit dissapointing compared to the scene set the previous day. Basically they got the caretaker on DNA evidence from 4 earlier attacks and he tipped off the violent attacker who murdered he brother. They were homing in on the violent one, who was a respected surgeon with a family when the case was halted as Boyd had been spotted breaking into the house in Manchester. The victim lost it as she thought she would not get justice, got the violent one's details by almost suffocating the new team member, KidnAPPED HIS DAUGHTER, TOOK HER TO THE VIADUCT (Caps locks error) was going to chuck her off when he turned up. It ended up with the victim putting a poly bag over his head and killing him. The end. OH. It left a lot of story lines unanswered IMO

grouchyoscar · 21/09/2009 20:40

OSAHM I am a scout badge stitching virgin As Jarvis would ask 'do you remember the 1st time?'

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/09/2009 20:47

EHM, thats sad for you

SAHM - I've found mornings so much easier now that I on't drink on week nights. I didn't drink much before but even a glass seems to affect my sleeping patterns.

sorry, realised I'm probably going to be pretty rubbish at replies this week. this probably wasn't the best week to get into a tizz about the state of my house. Too many other things that are urgent.

Got myself utterly exhausted today. I have got to prioritise more I think. hey ho.

Didnt get all my emails tackled and the problem with those is the more I send, the more people reply.
Didn't get bathroom done. hey ho.
But on the upside I did manage to deflea cats, by stint of rugby tackling them and pinning them to the ground.
I also found a stick of rock in my bedside cabinet. It was delicious

Am on strike for the evening now. will watch recorded Holby in a few minutes then retire to bed with a book.

wendyhappysmile · 21/09/2009 21:32

EHM Poor Mia and poor you. You did the very best you could for her, finding her a safe, loving home in good time. It's very sad for you though .

BadKitten Have you heard of Baby steps! Just do little bits and often. You are doing well to stay with us! (does that say more about us mad lot than you!! lol)

grouchy LOL 'I can't remember a worse time' and one bit of the lyric goes 'you bought a toy that can reach the places he never goes'!! Trivia from the '90s eh. I met Jarvis [swoon] backstage at a gig at university. [nonchalant swagger]

wendyhappysmile · 21/09/2009 21:33

Night all, off to do something useful before bed

Hello

I've skimmed the thread but not up to proper replies.

GO - Good WTD summary.....now can you d tonights for me. Just realised I missed it!

Delivery came this morning, 1/2 hour after I rang the company to check it was being sent...They called back while I was out, so need t call them and let them know I got it ok. I haven't even paid for it. They want me to post a cheque!
I'm going to have to get the bank to do me one as I shredded all mine as I never use them

Funeral is Wednesday pm. I think I've got everything in place. Just need to clean more in case they decide to come back here after - it is all a bit vague.

My involvement has been getting fil to the crem in appropriate manor (honestly - the back of dps van is what he wanted!!), sil is saying what she wants when we are there, and no idea who else will be there.

swanriver · 21/09/2009 22:44

Wow, pretty good going Starbear
Galen, we had the delinquent minus the dusting or walk. Ds1 fed up with everyone, and still crying about his Beano Annual, also now has two detentions this week alone for food fights and hitting someone
Luckily can't do one because taking him back to hospital for wrist appt {ha ha - feeling cross with school emoticon]

Homework took entire afternoon/eve and ds2 didn't even have any with break for tiresome Secondary School Meeting at school, which then made dh in a rage because kids were all over place [metaphorically]

EHM, I miss my old cat so much, I still think about her. She died at 17 I think. If you hadn't rehomed Mia, the sale would have come through much faster than you expected that is the way with these things
It is the end of an era isn't it?

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 21/09/2009 23:02

Just a quickie from me.

Well done on all your organising Jas. I've never had to do it. In lots of ways, being not the eldest or next eldest has sheltered me from having to do lots of things. >

Starbear We had some fantastic dogs when I was a child and I had a very special one as an adult, too. Our current dog is quite a character and we all love her, esp her funny little ways!

As for dusting - beat this. The other day I sat where I am now, noticed the thick layer of dust on the pc and desk and blew hard! So hard it made me cough! I did sort of hoover it off with the Dyson attachment a few days later, though!

go Thanks very much for the summary. All pretty full on stuff! I'll try to do the WTD one for tonight for Jas if you don't do it first. I was concentrating on my sewing at the same time, so I'm not sure I quite got it all.

galen Ah. I picked up all the stuff and put it on her bed. When she came home with a friend from school they had a drink and a bagel and then messed about for a bit. What dd did from then until tea time I've no idea. After tea she went to her maths lesson. After that she had homework to do. Then it was bed time. All the stuff is in a big pile on her floor now. Not to worry! Ds and dd have an allowance. Part of earning that is keeping their rooms tidy. I'm not sure that it works but my top tip is that if they have sufficient storage then they don't have any excuses for not keeping it tidy. I expect dirty washing to be in the w basket in the bathroom, bed linen to be pulled back in the morning to air the bed and all clean, ironed clothes to be put away promptly. They manage some of this some of the time but never all of it all of the time!

right. I must get to bed as dh has to be up early tomorrow. sorry, it wasn't a quickie after all! Nos da.
