Mission
I hope I'm getting better at this

TM I have an idea about the shoes thing.
What about a special pair of park crocs/sandals even for coldest days then his rebellious streak will be satisfied by no socks and bare feet BUT with some interface between him and broken glass...

Mine are always being awful after school, now just I just throw buns at them.

Had a despondent day. No housework, and ds1's wrist has to be broken/reset under general anaesthetic again because it is setting at an angle..Spent all day in hosp till pickup time And now I'm worried that his wrist is permanently damaged...and he's going to miss the year 5 Outward Bound course in October. Operation first thing tomorrow

Luckily he seems phlegmatic about it, no doubt already anticipating dvd afternoons installed on sofa.

swanriver · 10/09/2009 18:00

And good luck to all those new beavers from geriatric leader in waiting Swan...not quite 76 but getting there.

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 10/09/2009 18:20

Am back and I am almost not out of puff anymore! The grass is cut so that's one less job to do on the w/e.

TM and swanriver I think lots of parents have to suffer grumpy children when they come home from school. I guess it's a long day for them and they perhaps hold in feelings and frustrations whilst in school and then the parents get it in the neck the minute they have them from school. The 'throwing buns at them' and a drink once home technique does work, I think. Maybe sugar levels are low as it is a long time since lunch and they need a pick-me-up?

swanriver Best wishes for your ds1. If it's any consolation, work these days tends to be far less physically demanding than in the past. I'm thinking of keyboards instead of typewriters, power steering instead of....erm...whatever they had before (Popeye arms, I guess!) etc.

I'm going to put some more washing on. As I'm now going to be a regular, I'll be upfront and say that I'm going to carry things over from my previous day's list on a regular basis. If I can't serve as a good example then at least I can serve as a terrible warning!

scattyspice · 10/09/2009 18:27

LOL simply terrible warning indeed!

Poor you mad what a nightmare. Mine are tired and emotional too. DS keeps bursting into tears! Early night tonight!

Poor ds swan what a shame. Hope it goes well tomorrow (will he stay in?)

Have bought milk and washed up. DS has done 15min of homework (getting into this 15min thing). Dh is in the garden gamely playing bat and ball with both dc at once!

BB tomorrow (lets hope the poor exhausted kids can hold it together for 1 more day!)

hello everyone
So busy today Already I feel busy with only one child?! Park for two hours; Tesco quick trip; lunch and play; Mothercare for big girl car seat for DD then school pick up. Painting rocks in the garden after school was fun too! Early shower for DC and 5 stories each as a treat! I'm shattered.
Another busy day tomorrow and my DH has booked my car in for a service so will have to run to my hair appointment at 9.15! My mum is looking after DD for me then meeting me in town, which will be nice.
Right, off to watch Economy Gastronomy from yesterday.
Night friends.

wendyhappysmile · 10/09/2009 19:57

Blimey - 4 X posts! Hello you four

wendyhappysmile · 10/09/2009 20:01

Poor DS swan!

ActingNormal · 10/09/2009 21:25

Knackered now so will read all your posts tomorrow.

Star, I didn't notice you being harsh, just thought it was funny about cockroaches and thought about the fact that DS keeps finding spiders in the house lately and excitedly saying "Mummy come and see" and he loves them so much I can't bring myself to 'clean' them and their webs away!

As well as deliver/collect children from school and mine and DS lunch this is what has been done:

  • get frozen bread out
  • look at directions where to go for extra flute lessons
  • dishwasher
  • one load of washing
  • iron shirt for DH
  • put away laundry from loads of bin bags on bedroom floor
  • clean kitchen and bathroom floor
  • got it into my head to polish bits of cork bathroom floor which had gone white with wipes designed for leather sofa - it seemed to work!
  • clean toilet
  • clean mirrors and surfaces in bathroom
  • change sheet and cover on our bed which was smelly from being washed in a fausty washing machine (which I cleaned before I joined this thread and now seems to be working ok)
  • make packed picnic tea to take to friend's house
  • take kids to see their friends

I need a place to put 'problem washing' that has been washed but still has marks on, not removed by normal washing. Coloured things I will soak in pink Vanish powder solution. White things I always soak in white Vanish powder solution anyway.

Got nothing done this morning, then started feeling dopey after lunch, drank a Vit B effervescent drink and got all that list done!

Starbear · 10/09/2009 21:48

ActingNormal Thank goodness! We are very big fans of spiders here, as they eat the very creatures I despise flies! When I was a kid I would call my Dad to get them out of a room! I miss him a lot. We have lots in the house and garden. I'm teaching Littlebear to love them too!
TM Okay, I've signed up. Who reads the terms & conditions? Have I just signed my life away? I agree with Simply Littlebear get a jam sandwich. Apart from swimming we haven't ventured far from home yet!
Scatty Love the ironing rule but yet to apply it. Maybe when the ironing piles bursts from the waredrobe I hide it in.
RR Hope all goes well for Ds. DH is still a PE teacher even after 4, Yes, 4 hip operations!
lbb did you get your diary back?
Back in a mo with a post just for me
