Loo cleaning - not for the faint hearted

OK, we are moving to a new house and the loos have suffered from what one may tactfully call irregular cleaning. We are talking serious stains.

The way I see we have 2 options. The first is to buy new ones which is a faff but the 2nd is to find a way to get them clean. Any ideas? I have a feeling that some quite scary chemicals may be required.

Any advice?

oh my i had a dream about bad loos last night- in fact it is the loo of a fellow Mnetter and I kept wanting to sort it out for her! (vivid pregnancy dream!)

Anyhow in those £1 shops you can get these toilet capsules (limescale removery ones) that you drop in bowl and leave overnight.

We had a dire loo in house I moved into and it took three nights of doing this and scrubbing next morning but then it was sparkling clean and wasnt too grim too do- just took a time!

Even if you don't replace the loos - I reckon you should definitely replace the loo seats! It all sounds just like the loos in our house when we first bought it. We did end up ripping out the bathrooms and replacing a couple of years later - they really needed it though.
