Can I get rid of the smell of damp off a bed?

My friend gave me a small 3/4 double bed with guest bed underneath for my son. Its in really really good condition but she had damp in a cupboard in her spare room a few months ago and I can smell it on the bed and duvet she gave me.

I can't see any dampness on the bed or duvet and I have sprayed them with febreeze and aired them but I walked back into the room tonight (its been very hot) and I can smell it again. DH said I'm imagining it but I know I'm not.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of it or is the lot for the bin? I don't want to compromise my sons health if there's damp spores in the bed and duvet.

Many thanks

I should also say I couldn't smell it in her house anymore once they'd treated the damp.

Hi I had the same thing from an inherited bed and used this company www.cleanmymattress.co.uk to steam clean the mould and damp away. She also fabreezed it- it did the trick!

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.
