Tips to keep you sane

  • make the most of your sleep now
  • get as much help as possible
  • forget about being a domestic goddess ( I wish I'd listened to that one)
  • online food shopping

Was going to suggest filling freezer with easy meals, but you have that one covered.

Looking at you list you seem like you will be well prepared.

Congratulations BTW

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 17/07/2009 12:59

I am NOT a domestic goddess BTW (wish I was)but I tried to be and failed. I have given up trying now. I am just doing what I can. I'm going with the flow and enjoying my LOs because the time goes by so quickly. I wish I'd slowed down a bit when my older 2 were small. I can't believe my eldest is going to be a teenager this year, makes me feel old, I had him when I was just 18 so really I am still a young mum (thats what I keep telling myself .

Whoops! Sorry to just post and run again I did mean to type more but got distracted by ds weeing on the floor despite me and dd both shouting "Get on the potty!" at him.

Alice DS is really suffering with canines too, he had a high temp for over a week just getting one of them through. Top ones are through now but bottom ones not. And I also think they are particularly bad because they start narrow but get wider so carry on hurting even after they've cut through.

Am going to try and read a book this afternoon, ha!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 17/07/2009 16:25

Thanks ITMDIPP or can we call you pig for short? - totally agree with your suggestions. Making the most of sleep and DC's while they are little sounds like a good plan.

Had nice chat with MW re birth. Not allowed home birth but talked about how I can do it on my terms rather than EC nightmare of last time.

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig
I'm starting to fell old and my eldest is only 8
but your not old because if I have done my calculations right I'm older than you!

was at funeral today, just awful and I hope I never have't to experience that again,
I could still cry thinking about it, poor dh's aunt looks like she has aged about 20 years

Have just remembered it is dh's birthday on sunday and with purchasing the caravan(I did post about it) and dishwasher the pot is dry so will have to make a very fabulous chocolate cake and wrap myself up in a bow

Right I'm going to
load dishwasher
tidy kitchen
try and get smell of homemade burgers and onions out of house
load washing machine
sort some more washing
try and finish Cathy Kelly book I am reading(normaly would take me 1/2 days for a book but this one has dragged into a couple of weeks)!

alicecrail · 17/07/2009 19:41

plum big hugs x

Sorry i have been a real slatternly slattern today. Didn't get dressed til after lunch and was on mn all some of the morning so got bugger all done. Here is a list of jobs to be done by sunday evening (mostly tomorrow)

Strip beds
Wash sheets
Clean bathroom
Hoover downstairs
Put ALL clean washing away
Hoover upstairs
Hoover stairs
Empty waste paper bins from around the house
Empty bathroom bin
Dry sheets
Wash sofa throws
Febreeze sofas

I think that is enough to be getting on with.
I am stressing because i have texted DH about 45mins ago and recieved no reply (he isn't driving btw) I am hoping it is just a dead battery on his phone, but i always worry when i don't hear back as he is always very good at replying.

alicecrail · 17/07/2009 19:43

I forgot to add that trillian is being distracted on the diet thread and told me to say hi the lazy slattern

PlumBumMum · 17/07/2009 19:48

alice don't worry probably left his phone in car or battery dead

my dh is crap(when it comes to mobiles) he hates mobiles full stop so I hardly ever get a text

Ladygooga · 17/07/2009 19:53

Tomorrow dh will be left in charge as I'm off to run a stall at a craft fair...Yay!

alicecrail · 17/07/2009 19:57

I know i am being silly. He had to go to Devon today for work. He left early this morning, and a colleague drove them both. I last spoke to him about 5.45pm and he said the traffic was terrible, would probably be back late. I text him at about 6.50 to ask how he was getting on, did he want me to sort some dinner out etc. I text him again at 7.10 saying "you know i hate to nag, but i get worried when i don't hear from you, can you just let me know all is ok" and i have heard nothing. He is generally very good because he knows i'm a worrier

Just give me a slap and tell me to pull myself together

claireybee · 17/07/2009 20:48

PBM, so awful...

Alice hope you've heard from your dh by now

alicecrail · 17/07/2009 21:05

no

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 17/07/2009 21:13

halfmumhalfbiscuit I don't mind being called pig at all, in fact my DD calls me mummy pig regularly, she really is obsessed

plum I was hoping that no one would bother with the maths, I know that being nearly 31 is not that old really but DS2 and DD1 think I am ancient.

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 17/07/2009 21:21

alicecrail · 18/07/2009 08:20

Morning all

DH got in about 9.30pm - his phone had died. The first thing he did was apologise because he knew i would be worried sick Anyway, had a couple of glasses of wine which helped enormously

So, my big list is not looking promising. The plan was that DH gets DD up and takes her downstairs while i stip beds and clean the bathroom. However, DH has been working since 3.30am on and off so could get DD up but i had to get downstairs straight away. (DD up 6.20am) So nothing done as yet.

Not long after DH left at 3.30 there was shouting in our street. Some (probably drunk, by the sound of it) americans knocking on someones door very loudly and shouting "Caroline!" "Caroliiiinnnnnnneee" for a good half an hour until the bloke across the road tells them to get lost as they are waking up the whole street. Their reply was "Sorry, we were just passing and thought that we would see if our friend was in" WTF?! I have a feeling that the house they were at is the american couple that have moved in recently and have a baby of about a month old! I hope for their sake that were away last night!

alicecrail · 18/07/2009 10:22
