Small house, shedloads of crap. We have far too much stuff, every room is creaking under the weight of it. So I need to clear the crap and then give the place a damn good clean. But when? I work part time, knackered in the evenings, dd very full on so impossible to get anything done when she's around. But it's really getting me down, everywhere I look is a mess

I've tried boxes for junk/tip/keep but it seems we need to keep everything . Help!

I am seriously considering a skip. I'd need the time to fill it though which is sort of an excuse but not really. I keep asking DH to take DD to his mother's for a weekend and I'll do the house while he's gone but he won't go . A weekend, a skip and a mahoosive roll of binbags might help.

I don't think you can declutter a whole house in one go. You'll just end up surrounded by half filled bags. And it is tiring. Just do a bit every day. It will make a difference. It's like weight loss.

Steady on everyone!
I think the trouble with decluttering is that no-one else CAN do it for you - only you know if something really needs to be kept or not, and which pile it has to go in in order to be filed or put away.

I remember one of those programmes on the telly where they made this woman put an antique desk belonging to her dead father or husband in the crusher! It had everything sitting on it just as it was the day he died.
Me and my (antique dealer)mum were sat there going No,no,no,no,no!!!!!!
