Hi all ehm Had a lesson yesterday (my 4th) and he told me to put in for my theory test sobooked for less than 3 weeks time), (so I've been practicing that all day (and ignoring the superfical mess (it would take me 20 mins to clear up and I just have'nt bothered )

Have done school run and gone out for icecream

Bad Sag

Off to put that right !

sagacious · 04/06/2009 16:35

sorry I don't know what is going on with all those brackets...

grouchyoscar · 04/06/2009 16:41

Errh, Hello again ALL

Here again to wish the wonderful Wolfcub a very happy 30th b'day. Don't worry too much, the 30s are good (I couldn't drink on mine as DS was on board )

Also want to say Welcome to the new names on the threads. It's lovely here.

Collected DS then I went to do my civic duty. Biggest list of candidates I have ever seen! The wwalk there and back (with all DS's trammel) has nearly killed me. It's a postal thing next time IMHO

Still have a bit TO DO

Get DS's uniform ready for morning
Make tomorrow's lunches
Ds's tea
General tiding around
Feed the birds

But I will rest up EHM I'll just do 10 min bursts rather than 15

OK, 5 mins then the birds eat!

dylsmum1998 · 04/06/2009 17:08

afternoon all
took ds for his bike ride this morning and we found a quicker route than we originally planned, just hope it works out in the morning with all the school traffics back on route.
we then went for our swim which was brilliant dd has suddenly found her confidence and was jumping in countless times pushing me away in the middle of the pool and doing it herself, and laughing her head of at the waves

went for a drive to pick strawberries but the place we normally go to appears to be shut so need to find somewhere else to go

dinners cooking, swim towels in machine. so just need to wash up after dinner then its off to ju-jitsu for the eveing also need to squeeze in going to asda/shops as i have no milk for breakfast in the morning

algebraic Sagacious, well done on driving and revision for theory

Wendy [grits teeth at memories of ptng]
EHM, Mia is lucky to have you caring so well for her
Grouchy, sit down and watch the birds
Scatty, we somehow seem to manage without management of our affairs, I think by being just rather mean, but I once worked out what we spent a week overall, and it was within budget. But it would be nice to know where we could splash out, if we cut back somewhere else iyswim.

Felt exceedingly impatient today. But swimming went very well - it is just lovely to be in the water playing with kids, and washes all one's troubles (small as they are) away.

Anyway since my return have managed a few more things from control diary
Reinsured car
replied to invite
posted birthday present
violin a bit of supervision
filing some paperwork (a start)
hung out swimming things
wrote some dates on calendar and in diary

And did most of routines first thing including loos and kitchen stuff

ds2 playing happily upstairs alone
ds is doing some homework about venn diagrams which is causing nervous breakdown
dd has made some choc muffins from a packet mix

now ds and dd fighting over venn diagrams ahem and scattering coloured pencils around

[panic emoticon]
I think it is time for a nice film...

TheMadHouse · 04/06/2009 17:17

Evening all

Wendy I would perserve over the weekend and then if she is still having accidents maybe it is time to give it a rest for a little while. DS2 is three in a couple of weeks and got the hang in 2 days. I guess that being Lazy sometimes pays off

EHM Good news about the Mia > Say hello to DS2's namesake

Dyls Swimming pool sounds great - well done DD and also good news on the cycle front

Scatty I NEED to follow your lead - maybe next week

Groucy 5 min busts are more than enough woman.

Sag Send me your address and I will did out a couple of CD's regarding the therory test I have from when I did mine (2006)

LBB Nothing with enjoying quite time for yourself - Thats what I often do

Waves to everyone I have missed

Wolf 30 is fine, was one of my best birthdays ever

Well I have

Done the ironing
Played with moonsand with the mini's
Bought them high school musical 2 and 3 - on DS1's request

They have also asked for fishfingers so that will be dinner chicken can wait till tomorrow.

Anyway - I am shattered and throat is not nice. I am going to have a bath and a lazy night me thinks

swanriver · 04/06/2009 17:29

We give 80p for the seven year olds, and £1 for 9 year old.
We have only started giving it recently as they seemed to understand the principle of saving money better (fivers for birthdays etc from friends) and not immediately wanting to rush out and spend it on sweeties.

We also subtract money for bad behaviour, like 10p off for screaming, or fighting. Doesn't seem to make any difference unfortunately, but makes us feel better..

EHM · 04/06/2009 18:05

TMH the theory test dvd have changed & are updated on regular basis. There is now a hazard perception part(not sure when this came in(blush) I used this Driving Test Success only got 2 wrong it monitors your progress & lets you know which areas you are struggling on. I give it to my Mums neighbour or I would have sent it to you saga as I only passed in October 08. But given that they update & there is a 2009 version available The theory test is too expensive not to study for.

Sorry don't want to sound pushy it just to fresh in my mind

scattyspice · 04/06/2009 18:23

Wendy - You have found a flaw in my plan. I haven't budgetted for exploding ovens!

Swan- where did 80p come from? lol.

Done:
Voted - huge bewildering list of candidates.
mission (finally put hats and gloves away lol).
general tdying
laundry reboot.

sagacious · 04/06/2009 18:34

Aww thanks mad but I've got the dvd that ehm linked to (I've found it VERY addictive I'm a sucker for progress charts!)

scatty there were 15 candidates where I am (had to fold over the ballot paper and shove it very hard into the ballot box!)

Whoever was talking about pocket money .. ds gets a pound a week (if he's good) dd has started to get 50p (7 yrs and and 5)

Have tidied kitchen and sorted laundry
Dc's have had dinner (dh is away again till tommorrow) so bath and bed in 45mins (and counting...)

scatty well done on completing your financial journal, that sounds really good. Will def have to do something like that one day.
re pocket money, I'm not to sure what the plan is for it in this house, but I think I will prob give him little jobs to earn it.

I have done evening routine and have just swept and mopped living room. I know, one step at a time, but I promise I won't do more than I think I can handle.

galen · 04/06/2009 20:32

evening all
swan swining soiunds fab
dyls bad luck about strwberry place. I love strawberry picking hop eyou find another place
*mad hope throat improves
wolf oh to be just turning 30 again....sigh! hope !
wendy PT can be so hit and miss - literally lol with dd3 she did seem to do ok for a bit, then became disaterous and in the end we went back to napies fopr a bit, then tried again a couple of months later with better success. No doubt it would have worked first time if I'd persevered but I just didnt have the patience LOL Good luck.
everyone-else Hi!

well had quite a day today!House still in chaos....but I'm going to share what I HAVE done to cheer myself up!

Emptied DD1 and 2 big toyboxes. Sorted al ltoys. Refilled DD2 box.
DD1 box into DD3 and 4 room.
Emptied all dd3 and 4 underbed storage boxes (x4)took into DD1 room.
put DD1 stuff away in underbed boxes
put dd4 toys away in dd1 old big toy box
put dd3 toys in new toybox and moved into dd1 and 2 room
Emptied dd 3 and 4 wardrobe.
Emptied Ds1 wardrobe.Moved to dd 3 and 4 room, then moved dd3 and 4 wardrobe to ds1 room (dont ask..its all to do with size lol)
refilled dd3 and 4 wardrobe, including clothing sort out and culling
Dismantled dd2 cabin bed.moved into dd 3 and 4 room
dismantled dd 4 single pine bed ( part of bunks) moved into dd1 and 2 room
Re-assembled both beds
remade beds with some semblance of bedding
Tidied chaos created during furniture removal!!!

not bad really Also numerous school runs, risotto for dinner, been to meeting at school re Ds1 school trip, DD1 to and from party

of course heating man didnt turn up till 5....and coulodnt sort it as needs a part so will ome back...

but think Ive done ok overall!

Also seem to have 3 random largeish payments from child tax credit in our account....a very pleasent surpris ebut no doubt they will then write to us and tell us they've overpaid us and we owe them... I hate review time of the year... last year we had 8 different letters within 4 days all with totally different ammounts on....

anyway need to go and veg on sofa now...

tomorrow:
dismantle second single pine bed, move to DD1 and 2 room and await dH constructing bunk beds as he need to get a part on way home from work!
Dismantle Ds2 cot, move to dd4 room and reassemble
dust and hoover all upstairs....
and restore general order to rest of neglected house!

Right till tomorrow ladies

galen · 04/06/2009 21:02

been reading in more detail!

scatty I think pocket money is a good idea..in our house the older 3 all get £1.00 a week... it did start out with 7yr old getting a bit less but she complained...older 2 do tell me though that really they shoulo dget more as all their freinds get more than £1 and actually think they probably should...I do think that it helps to teach them about managing money rather than just us buying things for them. our main orbalem is I always tend to forget to give it them , or dont have change so they miss a lot of weeks, then I end up just getting stuff for them that they want...But I do think it works well when I remeber. DD1 saved up herself ,pocket money and some bdqay money , for nintendo DS...she was chuffed as anything when she got it!
hmm that was a bit waffly sorry!

galen · 04/06/2009 21:08

oh yes meant to say they are expected to do certain chores for their pocket money ...just things like keeping rooms tidy, clearing table etc...
also they can earn extra by doing eextra stuff.. such as watering garden, washing car etc...
dont often deduct money from them... but it has been known, for really badly messy bedrooms, or being unkind/mean/hurting each other...

scattyspice · 04/06/2009 21:21

Thanks galen, sag and swan for pocket money tips. I have promised DS £2 p/w! Maybe that was a bit rash .

dylsmum1998 · 04/06/2009 21:22

prof posh? me? haha no i'm too careful with my pennies for that! we went to spl today, go sometimes to str. i love the larkfield one, i'm not frightened of the baby flume there but the attractions/flumes are only open on weekends and school hols.

galen · 04/06/2009 21:24

swanriver · 04/06/2009 22:22

Galen - that list is pretty amazing
Sagacious - are you in the suburbs too where mad candidates congregate?- we had at least 15 too
Wendy - no we are not very mathematical

Now to watch Brothers and Sisters
We have had a tasty elegant supper of ratatouille, chorizo and rice by candlelight
Kitchen is moderately tidy
