Are you the kind of person who cleans their house from top to bottom before going on holiday?

I like to come home to a clean house but it is SUCH a pain packing for the holiday and keeping everything tidy. Especially when you add a very messy DH and two young DC into the equation. DH thinks I am mad and should just leave it however, but I hate the idea of coming back to untidiness. We almost always end up having words on the subject

Is DH right or am I totally normal?

I think you're normal - it's so nice to walk in and it's all tidy and ready to go. Who wants to tidy up when they get back? I even make sure there are clean sheets on the bed because that first night back in your own bed is such bliss and clean sheets make it even better!

No, I'm like you. I like it tidy at least and relatively clean. There's nothing worse for me than coming back to a mess. Drives dh up the wall though . He's always saying "oh you're tidying up for the burgulars are you?".

Aha vindicated! I will tell DH. Especially later, while we are having our words (going to centerparcs in the morning).

I dont do it top to bottom but I do always clean my house before I go.

EG: I ignore the spare room and our bedroom but I clean the rest of the house.

I do. And it is a pita. Only Christmas rivals going on holiday for domestic stress ime. But I have to leave a reasonably clean house because my most house proud mum friend comes in to feed the cat every day. She has unusually high standards so I'm sure she thinks we live in a tip, even though I've made a special effort on her behalf!
