is this obscene?

i am sick sick sick of spending all my spare time cleaning and in a fit of impulse got someone round to give me a quote. for this they will clean and hoover all rooms and surfaces, de-cobweb and dust lightshades, hoover and mop.

i think.

would i be a sucker to go for this? they are a v reputable company...

well would be over £18 per hour if it was 3 hours but would depend on how many poeple were cleaning

EldonAve · 08/05/2009 13:32

you need to get them to specify how many hours/people

I pay £8 per hour in London for 1 person (non agency)

MayorNaze · 08/05/2009 13:32

2 people. am just so fed up of cleaning cleaning cleaning!!!

so whats the verdict then?

they don't charge per hour, it's per job. is that not normal then?

I pay 9 pounds per hour in London for 1 person (non agency), she does 4 hours a week so I'm paying her 72 a fortnight.

Assuming you're getting a reasonable number of man hours (ie more than one person), it could be an OK quote.

MayorNaze · 08/05/2009 13:36

really? i hoped at least one person would say that. i think it would do my stress levels the power of good tbh... (can you tell i haven't told dh yet and am formulating the right words...)

My cleaner is £40 once a fortnight (non-agency) and came as a massive relief, I felt exactly like you.

Dh actually said to me "You wouldn't feel any better if you spent £40 a fortnight on massages would you?" He was so right - I'd rather forego spa treatments to get my cleaning done any day!

I pay an agency £13 an hour (also SW). They do a three bed house in 2 hours, so £26 a week. I would say they do everything you list there. It is absolutely brilliant, I say go for it!
