Basically my family are a bit like what you would expect to see on jeremy kyle. (not all my family mind, just the one side!) and today my sister has just irritated me, and i know i am being unreasonable because they are her kids to bring up as she wishes but "is it acceptable to just give your dc 1 fruit shoot as their days supply of fluids?" I told you it sounds like i made it up to get a response!! I love my sister dearly, but i very rarely agree with her on much, and this is todays little gem! She is very sensitive about things and you can't make any suggestons because she will get upset (which is perfectly reasonable, i would hate people critiscising my parenting)but i do sometimes think that the kids may be suffering a little bit. (it isn't just the one day btw, it is a general thing). There! i feel a bit better but will feel really guilty later for bitching about her

JustKeepSwimming · 22/04/2009 21:20

Alice - that's what MN is for, getting it off your chest so you don't cause family rows in RL!

PlumBumMum · 22/04/2009 22:41

YANBU Alice she should have gave them 3

Don't feel guilty at all, OMG the threads I could start, btn me & my toxic family, I only have one brother, who is 5 years old and chalk and cheese dosen't even cover it, its sad but ny friend bought me a nice plaque that says friends ar the family we choose for ourselves

PlumBumMum · 22/04/2009 23:07

And what has happened to my spelling, anyway my brother is defiently someone you could write a book on and does not take advice well so now when he rings I do alot of hmm and ok and hmm, but sometimes this is taken that I agree with what he is saying, which is v rare
He is not with the mother (never was) of his dd and trying to reason with him what he should say and do, lets just say I've given up

so the point to all that is have your rant on here, we've all been there

Thank you It just winds me up so much because she is the loveliest person, but always puts her bf first, before herself, kids and i'm pretty much the only family she wants to be linked with (although she may have a point there! ) It started because they are going on holiday next week to butlins, and she was saying about how they can't drink the water there because it makes them ill, so she was going to take a couple of bottles of coke (for her and him) and a pack of fruitshoots. I said why not take a couple of tesco value bottles of water too, she said they don't drink water, so i said take some squash then you can save a bit of money, but she said thats ok, the kids only have one a day! I said surely thats not enough, but she's adamant that the older one will just drink what you give her "just because it's there" and the 2yr old only has one cup of juice a day - It just doesn't seem right!!!

Ok, i'm done now, better get my arse into gear and get dressed as LOTS to do
