i just HATE ironong. my dh does all the ironing in our house. my friend says she finds it relaxing.
on the occasions that i have to iron it puts me in a really bad mood.

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 07/04/2009 14:18

Ironing my MIL does 50-70% of it. I do it if i must. Don't mind ironing ds clothes as they are so small but hate ironing dps t-shirts as they are huge.
Putting away clean clothes so boring, i am often tempted to give away half of our clothes just to half the washing.

Hoovering- i hoover downstairs every day and the carpets are never clean i blame ds, actually its my fault for allowing him to have snacks and wonder about with them.

cleaning smudgey finger prints from patio doors windows. Waste of time.

Cleaning the toilet.

doggiesayswoof · 07/04/2009 14:18

Same as popsycal - it would be ironing if I ever did any.

I hate with a passion hanging up wet washing on clothes horse and then folding and putting away - EVERY SODDING DAY

I also mostly hate cooking, washing dishes, anything kitchen-y but thank god DH does most of that.

mumof2teenboys · 07/04/2009 17:32

Hate washing the kitchen floor.

Detest cleaning windows.

Don't like hoovering the stairs.

Hate cleaning the bathroom, I do it and the next day its messy again, why?

Don't like cleaning the rabbit hutch (is that housework?) but its my fault, I wanted the rabbit.

allthoseeggsaremine · 07/04/2009 22:23

mrsmaidamess, chucking clean clothes in the bin.....I know what you mean though! That is also one of my hated jobs

loading and emptying dishwasher....hate it.

dog poo from garden

emptying and putting bins out for collection

oven cleaning (don't really do it anymore)

cleaning stupid venetian blinds

cleaning the tiles in the bathroom

Oh.....fgs! All of it at the moment

Pawslikepaddington · 07/04/2009 22:28

The bathroom-especially THE TOILET. Also scrubbing pee/poo/sick off the carpet/mattress/sofa. Anything is a joyous job compared to that!

thumbbunny · 07/04/2009 22:30

Ironing and dusting.
Ironing - once in a blue moon, hang most of our stuff up to dry in order to avoid it.

Dusting - just so bloody pointless - no sooner done than it's back. Plus if I stir the stuff up it makes me sneeze - if I let it lie I'm fine. (I vacuum it up when I absolutely have to do it - thank God for my duster attachment!)

MrsMattie · 07/04/2009 22:32

Emptying the dishwasher.

Putting away laundry.

Oh, who am I kidding? All of it. So farking dull.

MintyyAeroEgg · 07/04/2009 22:37

Oh I hate all domestic tasks too. Just don't get any pleasure whatsoever from any of it. Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't put clean washing away .

For posters with big bumps, or bad backs like me, or those who are just tired of picking things up from the floor ...
you need this blessed gizmo from Toys-r-Us

allthoseeggsaremine · 07/04/2009 22:37

I don't call it cleaning anymore....more like mucking out

GossipMonger · 07/04/2009 22:41

changing the beds

cleaning the kitchen floor - dh does it

dusting

I am the crappest housewife of all time but dont mind ironing!

bitofadramaqueen · 07/04/2009 22:43

Cleaning the floors. We've got laminate type flooring throughout downstairs and even if I sweep, then hoover, then mop, it looks like it needs a good sweep within minutes and the mop picks up loads of 'missed' dustballs.

Having a 9 month old who loves to chuck food over the side of the high chair doesn't help either. Me and DH just end up traipsing it through the house.

Oh, and putting the washing away. So glad its not just me.

Granny22 · 07/04/2009 22:46

When you are ironing the pile or row of hangers grows and grows and at least you get a sense of achievement but when you put it all away in drawers and wardrobes there is nothing at all to show for your efforts. I tend to leave my ironed stuff hanging in the kitchen for days to show how busy I have been and it ends up smelling of soup and curry and probably should be washed again.

The worst thing about being retired is that you only retire from the paid/interesting tasks but the boring, unpaid, relentless, endless hoovering, ironing, tidying, washing-up, grass cutting has to be done till you die and you are at home more, so make more mess, see the mess and have no excuse for not sorting it. ARGH!!

allthoseeggsaremine · 07/04/2009 22:49

Thanks for that granny22, something to look forward to then

Snorbs · 07/04/2009 23:30

I don't mind the indoor stuff too much to be honest. It's not exactly fun but at least I can have the radio on. I very rarely iron anything though; I just hang it up when it's damp and job's a good'un. Any clothes that don't deal well with that are clothes that don't get worn more than once (or get dry-cleaned).

That all being said, I bloody HATE gardening. I'm very tempted to just concrete over the entire thing and put astroturf on top.

smartiejake · 07/04/2009 23:48

I hate cleaning the floors. The problem with wooden floors is you have to clean them twice- once with the vac and then again with a mop.

shedragon · 07/04/2009 23:52

Absolutely bloody hate emptying the dishwasher. Monotony at its best.

Not even an obvious result to it. Take dishes out of one hiding place, put into another. Head-wreckingly boring.

ninedragons · 08/04/2009 00:14

Washing up. Got to work out some way to squeeze a dishwasher into the tiny kitchen.

I am so jealous of Nigella and Jamie - they make a great big mess cooking something glorious and then enjoy it with their unusually telegenic friends, while some work-experience minion is doing the dishes in the kitchen.

I do find laundry quite satisfying, so I tend to do that while DH tends to do the dishes.

NotPlayingAnyMore · 08/04/2009 00:36

Washing up. Wish I had a dishwasher but alas, nowhere to plumb it in. Get very when people moan about having to load or empty one!

purpleduck · 08/04/2009 00:43

OOh, yes, venetian blinds... hate doing that.
And my dd is SOOO messy.
There are constantly clothes everywhere.

Sigh.

Niecie · 08/04/2009 00:53

No way am I a domestic goddess - I really don't like any of it (especially the toilet ones of which there are plenty with 2 boys) but I really have a totally irrational hatred of making pack lunches for school. Washing out lunchboxes that aren't meant to immersed in water, making the bloody sandwiches all of it dull, dull, dull.

brimfull · 08/04/2009 00:55

folding and putting clean washing away

changing beds

tidying up after the messy bastards that live here so I can dust and hoover

MeMySonAndI · 08/04/2009 01:36

Pairing socks and vacuum cleaning

StarlightMcEggzie · 08/04/2009 09:32

Oh I never pair socks either. Just buy only black ones then shove them all in a drawer together.

HarleyQuinn · 08/04/2009 19:26

Pairing up socks
hoovering - never seems to end
washing up, hate it.

Ohforfoxsake · 08/04/2009 19:33

Putting the washing away. It takes about 5 minutes, but I hate it.
