Evening all
mad yay for good results atthe hosp - a weight off your mind no doubt. Hope the prosthesis fitting goes smoothly
gibber hope you and DD are doing OK
flame Hi! 10 mins is a good start!
EHM Yay for poos. I think the key is to try to nip the problem in the bud. Once they get constipated/fail to poo over a long period it causes part of the bowel to become stretched which thens means the muscles dont work as effecticely, which then makes it harder for them to poo, which then further stretches the bowel....etc... in a viscious cycle. This is what happened with my DD2 - not sure what caused the inital bout of constipation but she ended up with lots of problems with constiaption for several years, was even under a consultant at the hosp at one point. If you do whatever you can now to keep her "going" then that should prevent any future probs.Hope HV can give you some tips.
swan have been pondering homework ( from yesterday!) and funnily enough it is one thing that does get done without too much hassle here. Not sure why.... maybe it's from 2 years of home educating? I do take a very laid back approach to it though. DD 3 (4) I make sure I read with. She does bring home some sheets, but often we dont do these (they're voluntary) as I think 4 is far too young for homework.
DD 2 (6) gets homework once or twice a week. Always do the weekend one (spellings and handwriting) on Sat morning. It is routine now, they know they have to do it so just do. "research" type homework can take a bit more pursuading, but we dont spend too long on it usually.Always do reading - she loves doing this though so not a problem.
DD1(9) and DS1 (almost 11) I ask if they have any ,and offer help when they are doing it, but on the whole I consider it to be their responsibility to remember and get themselves organised and do it on time. If they forget, or choose not to then I let them face the consequeences for themselves - find this works much better than constant nagging! DD1 always does hers. DS occassionally forgtes, but always gets it done eventually!
I do think that often these days young children get far too much homework. There are so many other ways for them to be "learning" and "developing" at home, and they spend so many hours at school that I dont see the point making them spend hours doing more of the same at home.... anyway! It sound like yours get quite a lot. Do you think they are getting too much, or is it about the right ammount?
Well a fairly good day here.
Abandoned playground trip after school as too cold, but other than that all went to plan!
Am continuing to refine my evening routine for smoother running!Am finding that a hotspot for trouble is always the clearing away after dinner - they make a HUGE mess (little ones mostly - although DS1 adds his fair share - sigh - ) so cleaning up is always a challenge, and when I'm taken up with that is exactly when the little ones kick off, DS2 starts crying, DD1 and DS1 strart arguing, and DD2 ends up crying over something or other ...(the older nes are supposed to be helping but that doesnt always work either...)
Need to refine my stategies for smooth transition from end of dinner to bath or next activity LOL
Other than that evening quite successful
Ds1 now gone fencing and all others in bed - and asleep!! (very tired today - not sure why!)
Had hoped to go and bake, but am also very tired so may just read one of my new boooks instead.
have good evenings all
See you tomorrow.
