Of course - between those ages you'd just think it was generally lumpy body changing things wouldn't you?

swanriver · 24/03/2009 12:39

And you noticed when she was 12 - how making? Thank god it wasn't malignant, as you say.

scattyspice · 24/03/2009 12:45

Gibber - what a shock. How old is she? Is she very upset? .

Tort - hope the CV lady is helpful (fingers crossed).

Mad - hope it goes well at the Hospital.

Swan - your morning sounds very calm .

EHM - potty training is soo frustrating!

Hi jas and saga.

Tortoise · 24/03/2009 12:45

Gibberish What a for you, i would be that it hadn't been noticed sooner as you saw a Dr.But i guess at that age where they are just developing it is easy to mix things up.

Missed posts before i posted mine! I stopped mid message when my brother arrived and then posted without checking for new meessages lol!

TMH I do like to pop in and say hi from time to time. Maybe now i have the laptop, i will pop in more,

jas I am often around until 11pm or later! No house work at that time of night though.

Tortoise · 24/03/2009 12:47

Swan She was helpful. I now have a CV. Looking at voluntry work to start with to get some confidence up a bit. Hard bit is know ing what i want to do. have always worked with children, which i do enjoy, especially under 2s. But also fancy something with animals.

Gibberish Your poor DD. Good that it is being dealt with now but at her age I imagine she will go through an awful lot emotionally

TMH - WTF are you doing changing the beds?

Tortoise · 24/03/2009 13:07

Now i think i know who prof is lol!
Virtual sing song sounds fun. Do you all have ear plugs? My DS's say my singing is awful. Doesn't stop me though!

galen · 24/03/2009 13:13

V brief pop in - sorry!
DD4 and DS2 "playing" in the lounge - lots of giggling now but always degenerates quickly! DD4 dooesnt really understand that he cant really run , or in fact balance that well yet lol!

mad good luck at hosp - hope all oges well
gibberish Gosh. Poor DD - hope getting it sorted all goes smoothly....I suppose it can be hard to tell, but if you were concerned enough to go to gp sounds like they should have investigated a bit better.

sagacious · 24/03/2009 13:14

gibberish Crikey I hope you are enjoying a lovely shopping trip

I can never sing in key I'm always the one singing far too low/squeaking

Was meant to be sorting out house but have spent the past hour trying to re arrange flights after sodding ryan air kindly emailed me to say they've changed flight times (am going to a wedding at 6pm and they've changed the flight from 1st thing in the morning to last thing that night)

Rant over.. and breathe....

ommm

Jas · 24/03/2009 13:16

gibberish Poor dd. I agree, if you were concerned enough to get her looked at at 12, another three years is a very long time before diagnosing it. A huge relief that it will be sortable though.

Tort I know you are often on late too

House is looking better. I need to go check the holiday spreadsheet thread and see if there is anything useful on it I think

Wolfcub · 24/03/2009 13:32

mad good luck at the hospital YOU MUST NOT CHANGE BEDS very very BAD girl

prof I hope DP is ok

hope all are well

be back later oh and I picked the job that was my favourite to start with to hell with the career opportunities the other one offers I decided I would rather be happy.

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2009 13:52

Did 10 mins... tis a start!

wendyrednoseredhair · 24/03/2009 14:12

Gibberish Don't know what to say! You are being so brave - poor dd and poor you at doc not picking up on it

Well, that's taken the wind out of my sails somewhat - how awful.

Been to toddlers with dd - Grandma had ds this morning. Only a few more pox spots today - poor thing. Hope he will be on the mend now. He is up and down really. He is asleep on the sofa - dd asleep in her cot so I have half an hour to myself (unheard of!)

Manic morning - had no money for toddlers so had to go buy random thing from the shop to get cashback. Later had to run into the pharmacy for more calpol and piriton syrup.
Done two loads of washing, a bit more packing and sorting out. Sat outside for 15 minutes with a cuppa - it's clouded over now but has been warmish and sunshiney here.

DD is coughing, hoping she isn't going to be sick (usually is when she has a cold as she has now). Cat is miaowing to come in too, best go. Now to put out more washing on the line, drink some water and sort out afternoon's activites.

BBL take care all, will be back to check on your progress at the hosp mad

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 24/03/2009 14:38

just popping in briefly

for your daughter gibberish hope you will both be better looked after from now on that it has taken them this long to diagnose it!

TMH hope all is going well at the hospital.

I better go and finish my coffee before getting DS2 up for the school run.
Hi to everyone else.

gibbberish · 24/03/2009 16:33

Thanks so much everyone

She seems to be handling it remarkably well,is neither up not down at the moment (just me who has been a blubbering wreck!) but then I suppose she doesn't know what to expect having never had an op in her life. And at that age they don't really think about serious illness do they? They were very good at the hospital and they have breast care nurses available for her if she needs counselling.

We have a lovely time shopping - bought loads of stuff for the ball - 150 cups/plates/cutlery etc, balloon weights, rose petals (to decorate tables) etc. Got them in a trade warehouse so saved lots of pennies The hosp have booked her in after the ball for the op so that she can enjoy it (and won't need to have her dress re-fitted!). Thought that was very good of them.

She is 15 btw (and def a teeny not a tweeny )

scattyspice · 24/03/2009 16:43

Oh Gibber! The ball sounds lovely (are you hosting it ).

scattyspice · 24/03/2009 16:45

Oh yes forgot to say:
done:
laundry boot
plants watered
floor mopped
DS parents eve (went generally well, the word slow was used quite alot )
visa bill paided.

gibbberish · 24/03/2009 16:50

Yes. We now have 90 plus teens attending and about 30 adults to keep them from snogging in the corners

All getting dressed up in ball gowns and kilts and are having photos taken of them all. Got a dj and karaoke arranged (complete with bubble machine and lights) and are having a few games, ceileidh dances and line dances(!). Also some of the young ones are going to perform few numbers.

Should be highly entertaining!

Got my dress from Roman Originals yesterday - is lovely and a bargain at £30 in the sale!

EHM · 24/03/2009 17:23

swan I agree exercise is the key. But I am stumped a s Ellie ran around all weekend with her cousins.Veg box sounds wonderful.
TMH I know Lacterlose will soften as I've had my fare share during the years prior to bowel op. My body no longer responded to it, thats why I reluctant to start using. I know that would be the best option but very hesitant because of this.
Its great that your Mum is close to hand to help.
gibberish omg what a shock for you & poor dd. teenage years are so difficult without this. Can't believe you found when 12 & dr's have put off
tort lovely to see you.good luck with the job hunt.
jas Hello
Greyskull Hi
flame Nice to see you too.
wolf new job? this must be the interview glad it went well.
wendypoor ds CP are truely awful.
saga I call then Pikey Air I hate them with a passion.
galen busy as ever.
prof your song made we weep
scatty why did they use the word slow?

Poo Watch up date. 1 this morning before going swimming. Another this pm after we returned from swimming. Called GP's after first one & they suggested I go to the HV clinic as this is very common in early weeks & sometimes months of toilet training.

Tortoise · 24/03/2009 17:31

EHM Yay 2 poos is good. Hope HV can give you some advice.

My grass is all cut. Just the edges to do tomorrow. He also dug out a prickly bush/tree thing which was half dead just sprouting the odd branch out and i didn't like the fact it was prickly so i kept it cut right back anyway!

DD's just had tea. DS's have gone to their Dads. My tea is cooking.

TheMadHouse · 24/03/2009 17:33

Gibber I am so sorry for your daughter and would be happy to discuss my operation with her anytime. I dont suppose that they cold do a final reconstruction until she has stopped developing could they - lots of questions to ask.

Anyway I am officaially cancer free - yes siree I need no further treatment on that front.

I met my breast cancer nurse and she is going to sort me out silicone prostethis' for my chest .

I also need to make an appointment for a mastectomy bra fitting is 5 weeks time and choose my size.

Then on to the plastics department who ticked me off for popping a stitch

No infection, let the fluid drain and back for stitches out on Friday, so that DH is here and I can take things easy over the weekend, rather than the origional plan of Thursday.

So I am happy, although have spent most of the afternoon at the hospital.

OP posts:
gibbberish · 24/03/2009 17:37

I know ehm is shocking. Mind you, I suppose it can be very difficult for them to tell - even mine aren't the same size!

tmh thank you so much. Really appreciate that. Yes, they have said they will wait until she is fully developed before carrying out the reconstruction. She will have a prosthesis in the meantime.
