If you've hired a rug doctor, how did you manage furniture moving?

I'm thinking of hiring one this weekend to clean our cream bedroom carpet.

If you've used one, how did you cope with the furniture in the room? We have a heavy 5ft bed, ditto big wardrobe.

Will I need to shift it all out, or would we get away with, say, moving the bed to one end of the room to clean under it (Dread to think what I'll find) then putting it back and cleaning the rest of the room.

Basically, I'm wondering if I'll need to let the cleaned section dry before furniture goes back.

Only used one once to do granny's grotty carpets. I was SOOOOOOOOO impressed. It cleaned really well and it left things pretty dry too.

IMO, I think you'd easily get away with moving stuff to one end of the room. Do those areas first to avoid paddling over your damp bits unecessarily but, from what I can remember, carpets were pretty dry. Unless your furniture has a large area in contact with the floor, I think you'd get away with putting things back straight away. If it's just a bed with feet/wheels and a wardrobe with feet, I'd just move it back straight away.

Granny's got continence probs (sorry, probaby too much info) but we subsequently bought a Vax upright carpet cleaner thingy and it's ideal for our needs and does a more than presentable job, but it made me realise just how good the Rug Doctor was.

I agree with the advice given by UnrealisticExpectations. I have used a rug doctor in the past and put the furniture back straight away. Lets face it under the bed etc is not going to be very dirty, so I just gave those areas a quick clean & put the furniture back straight away.
