Working mother looking for a house organiser (NOT CLEANERS)

Hi Ladies,

Do you ladies think that there are people out there to help organizing kitchens, living rooms, kids rooms?

I wish somebody can just organize my things which I dump due to lack of time. I am NOT looking for a cleaner but somebody who can organize for me and make it look beautiful.

I am not looking for a professional person, since they are expensive. Are these people out there and if so how much do they charge?

help ...help...

I don't understand - you're not looking for a professional person but expect to pay; doesn't that define a professional?
There is a woman in our locality who does this but I don't know what she charges. I'm sure if you google 'house organizers' in your area you'll come up with something.

TheYearOfTheCat · 17/03/2009 22:29

Oh - I saw something about 2 months ago in the paper - possibly the Sunday Times magazine in late November 08.

It was a woman who had set up an agency of mummy PAs - they basically come in and blitz whatever you need done - whether it is filing, storage systems, whatever. I remember being really impressed, because they managed to acheive so much in such a short space of time.

Will try to look it up, but in the meantime, try googling mummy PA.

prithvi · 17/03/2009 22:29

What I meant was I do not want agencies sending their men. Perhaps a lady who can do my job for less. I have googled it up but nothing comes up..Will try again. Thanks!

TheYearOfTheCat · 17/03/2009 22:33

here it is

Although at £40/hour plus joining fee, it is not cheap.

prithvi · 17/03/2009 22:43

Yes, I was reading but this is quite expensive and not what I am looking for.

I have a friend whose house is utterly disorganised, her kitchen is so chaotic that you cant set a foot there. She has 2 kids and has absolutely no time to clean up. Bless her, poor lady! Yesterday I went to her place and her kitchen looked amazingly beautiful. She said her friend did it for her and thats it ...I want it too now! I cant take this favour from her friend since I dont know her....

Google for "declutterers". They tend not to come cheaply either, though -- if you have an organised friend with time on her hands and you don't mind her going through your stuff you could offer to employ her (but then combining business with friendship is always often dicey).

NotAnOtter · 17/03/2009 22:54

i would LOVE to do this for you!

My speciality

where abouts ( roughly) are you?

ipanemagirl · 17/03/2009 22:56

oh my god I've just visited goop gwnnie's website

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

spare me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

prithvi · 17/03/2009 22:57

South east England

Nontoxic · 17/03/2009 22:58

So, try this: www.clutterfree.co.uk (polishes finger nails on jumper).
In fact, if you google 'clutter free' loads of sites come up.
I'm sure you could find someone in your area (goes off to re-read Flylady, hoping this time something sinks in).

ipanemagirl · 17/03/2009 22:58

Gwnnie:
" Option Five:

Wear legging jeans (I wore these on Oprah!) with grey tank and vest. Match with edgy boots."

Oh have mercy on us!!

here

PortAndLemon · 17/03/2009 22:59

See here, for example.

prithvi · 17/03/2009 22:59

declutterers are quite expensive! I dont think so I am ready to pay such a price in this recession.

NotAnOtter · 17/03/2009 23:01

I am in the north and only do the de cluttering for my friends

the problem is i think posh folk LIKE clutter!!

prithvi · 17/03/2009 23:04

Well, I am not posh!!
I hope somebody is out there to give me a price and start work!

OP posts:
Nontoxic · 17/03/2009 23:07

A south east based one, which seems to have DIY tips: www.cluttergone.co.uk.
Really, anything which has 'consultant' in the title isn't going to be cheap - when you consider a massage or consult with a homeopath costs about £40.
These people are self employed and if they wanted to be cleaners charging cleaners' rates I'm sure they would.
I can't see me ever using one, as my DH does 't see the point in paying someone to do what we could do ourselves.
Love to, though.

MollieO · 17/03/2009 23:10

Basically you are looking for a freebie or a friend to take pity on you. Sounds like you should be applying to one of those reality shows for messy houses! If you want someone to do a proper job then I don't understand why you aren't willing to pay the going rate (or do it yourself).

prithvi · 17/03/2009 23:12

Thanks nontoxic!! This is the min figure I am finding on sites. Will keep looking though!

OP posts:
NotAnOtter · 17/03/2009 23:13

lol Mollie

prithvi · 17/03/2009 23:16
