Make lunches for tomorrow
Dust Bedroom
Vac stairs and landing

Better crack on x

swanriver · 15/03/2009 10:29

Wolf his little routine is as per normal presumably, he will be fine. If you think about it men go on business trips all the time and their los survive EHM will testify and Ruby and me, so if your dh is there HE WILL BE FINE.

grouchyoscar · 15/03/2009 10:31

Wendy I'll do a batch and bring them to a meet up. DH said they're the best I've done yet

wendyrednoseredhair · 15/03/2009 13:29

Voice of reason Swan, well said, a man wouldn't bat an eyelid about it

Been swimming, first time for dd for 6 weeks so she was unsure and not keen. Will try and take her again this week (she normally loves it).

Lunch has been eaten, dd napping, dh and ds playing dino top trumps. Need to make tea but may escape to the shops. Just putting washing out first.

hope you're all having fun

TheMadHouse · 15/03/2009 13:54

Hello all

Just enjoying the calm before the storm. We had a really nice evening and night the boys cuddled up till 9am in our bed this morning.

Mum arrived and she and DH tidied, whilst me and DS1 made cakes for the guests to decorate.

Table is full of cakes and all sorts of things to decorate them with
Food is sorted
DS2 is napping
I am full of apin killers, but had a much better nights sleep.

It all feels a bit sureal actually. DH has arranged to work from home this coming week and only has 2 client visits.

I am back at hospital tomorrow and then will need to look at prostetic breasts

dylsmum1998 · 15/03/2009 14:19

afternoon all
mad hope you all enjoy party
been to asda and dd just finishing lunch now.

my mil has very kindly offered to let us have dd's birthday party at her house, dd's birthday is on a wednesday. so now need to decide party on saturday before or after her birthday? any thoughts welcome

grouchyoscar · 15/03/2009 17:42

Hello again

Sounds like a lovely morning Mad I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Got back from Ed's friend's party. He had a great time and I was chatting to parents. They had a Punch and Judy show and Ed was 50% laughing his head off and 50% scared and wanting to go home mind you, I don't suppose there are many kids' stories based around a serial killer are there

Ed has asked for an early night and popped to bed Late Mum N Dad evening meal it is then

Further DONE

Make lunches for tomorrow (Ed said liver spreading pate is 'cat food' so I hope he's forgotten by 12 tomorrow)
Bags packed for tomorrow
Clothes out
Washing brought in.

Am I being too pushy/precious with Ed? I've asked if he can be given a harder reading book as I feel he's finding ORT 3 too easy. I know they need to keep in line with his letters and sounds group work but a Trickier book would be good.

See you all tomorrow evening (Creche work then dinner lady (poss) then community arts first)

TheMadHouse · 15/03/2009 17:58

Evening all

DH and the boys are taking mum home, they have been bathed and are in their PJ's

we had a really nice party.

The children loved decorating the cakes and all took plates of cakes they decorated home - so that worked really well

I am SHATTERED

Pissed off with my brother, as he didnt turn up and when I rang him - he had forgot DS1's birthday. The boys were so looking forward to seeing their cousin.

swanriver · 15/03/2009 18:11

Sneaking back...
party over - went v well, luckily not so many children as first envisaged so all played in garden brilliantly

Grouchy just couldn't resist adding the following re ORT. It's all to do with comprehension apparently not just decoding. "So even if he can read, he sometimes won't be ready for the next level". But I always thought that was teacherspeak.
Ds2 was on ORT5 at that stage, (he's older tho') and dd is still on ORT3 a YEAR LATER.
So they should be able to allow for a wide variation within the year group. Their class had several different groups on different reading levels.
Ask for a more difficult book they often can't fine tune with such a large class. And it's sometimes not teacher who chooses the books. With DS1 I frequently requested he be put up a level. (There still remained the "understanding what he has read" issue, although he could read all the difficult words by some strange trick)
YANBU or pushy.

swanriver · 15/03/2009 18:16

TMH, Damn and blast these lackadaisacal guests, Ds2 was looking forward to a particular girl guest, who didn't turn up for no apparent reason. Luckily lots of other guests came so he didn't mind too much. Our dcs are so fond of their cousins too. (but they are abroad so no chance)

You did it - he's four (tomorrow)

grouchyoscar · 15/03/2009 18:17

Swan I chat to Ed and discuss the book he has read. He understands! A speech therapist identified he has a vocab and understanding of a 10.10 year old so he can work with words. I suppose I better get the Roald Dahl books out

scattyspice · 15/03/2009 18:36

Hi all. Just popping in.

Mad - so glad you made it home for the weekend and Ds had a good party. You are amazing! Good luck tomorrow.

Swan - glad your party went well too .

Loads to do (have been enjoying the sunshine all day). Back tomorrow.

EHM · 15/03/2009 18:41

TMH glad you had nice afternoon..brothers!
swan I concur that ellie ok after dh has been away. So wolf I know its easier sasid than done don't fret. Dh will be with Ds so you know he will be fine. DS will also be very excited to see his mummy when you return. I know ellie is when dh returns, she completely bins me off
grouchyYou've only got Ed's best interest at heart. I am sure you will make the right decision for him regarding reading.I never think of you as pushy parent, only caring/loving. who wants best for her one & only little lamb.
Sorry just popping in quickly whilst dh baths dd. should be tiding really. washing basket was emptied this afternoon now dh has put in 2 pairs of jeans & top arrrrrrrgh!

must go & clear toys way....

Sorry to those I have missed.

EHM · 15/03/2009 18:42

oops TMH good luck at hospital tomorrow & have a good night.x.x.

EHM · 15/03/2009 18:43

swanglad you party went well too.
scatty x post.

galen · 15/03/2009 18:49

Evening all!
mad so glad you got to come home for the weekend, and that the party went well.Happy B'day to your DS1! So sorry about your setback though. It must be very dissappointing and hard to come to terms with. The main thing now is to get yourself well again. Hope you get something suitable sorted with the prosthetics. will be thinking of you.

wendy will amail you my addy - thanks. I'm sure your DD will soon get back into swimming. I took my DD4 for the first time ever last month (oops yes I know ) She clung to me like a liile monkey. The second time a couple of weeks later she was splashing round non stop, and last week she was charging round , jumping in etc... absolutely LOVED it!

grouchy I went to a party once with a terrible childrens entertainer who dod a Punch and Judy show.It was awful, they were hitting each other, hitting the baby , shouting at each other etc... It was so bad we left!I loath Punch and Judy.
Also agree it is quite reasonable to ask he be put up a level. in my experience Teachers usually dont mind being asked these things. If they feel it isnt appropriate they can explain why, if they have no objections then stops DS getting bored and losing motivation.

Swan Happy B'day twins! Glad party went well sounds like all had a lovely timewell. Sounds like all had a lovely time.

wolf hope goodbye works out ok and things go smoothly while your away.

Oh gosh forgot everyhting... sorry..

everyone-else Hi!

Not the best weekend here really - though nothing serious to moan about.

A frustrating day yesterday, me trying to clean for parents today, but had forgotten how pointless trying to clean with all 6 children in the house is! Basically, I tidied an area, moved on to the next, then various DC followed behind and trashed previously cleaned area etc.... in a never ending circle of frustration.
Then escaped to supermarket when DH came home, feeling quite relieved to be out of the house on my own LOL Had pleasent enough potter round shop - got what I needed, loaded into car.... and car wouldn't start AAARRRGGGHHH So 40 min walk home (uphill!) with shopping in pushchair - reminded me how unfit I am - resolved to do more exercise LOL
Was however glad I had no DC with me, and it wasnt raining LOL ( thought of you Ruby and your car!)

Then today parents visit sort of stressful... DH and my Dad did a lot of driving round, waiting for recovery truck, delivering car to garage etc...
I seemed to just do a lot of serving food, making lunch, clearing away, etc... and Dc did a lot of running round being totally over excited and in need of fresh air....
So now have to get organised to take 6 children on 2 busses to get to school in morning...then back home... then back to school...then back home!Is also going to cost me £8.00 a day for busses so seriously hoping car can be quickly fixed. (its the starter motor apparently so thankfully not terminal!)

have now got most things sorted for tomorrow.
DH teaching Piano (have moved PC in to kitchen for urgent MN catch up!)
Littlies in bed, totally over exhausted and having totally lost the plot.

Going to have ultra early night, and remember tomorrow is another day LOL Am also going to plan next weekend so we can actually have some fun together!

Oh but exciting news my little cutie DS2 is walking! Bless! He can now take 5 or so wobbly steps before collapsing , then grinning up at me and clapping himself. Awww.

Right, off to sort last bits and bobs.
Have good evenings all

mad hope you have a restful night. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

wendyrednoseredhair · 15/03/2009 19:43

galen can't believe your car broke down whilst at the supermarket - or that you managed to get it all home in a pushchair lol! Yay for DD2, walking is so exciting, isn't it? My DD first walked at her birthday party surrounded by loads of people! Gives you an idea of her personality. Tomorrow is truly another day, Scarlett hope you have a good day tomorrow

Hi Grouchy I'm sure you can word it right with the teacher so you don't sound critical of her/his judgement if you want to ask for another book. I have all this to come. My ds is 4.5 and can read quite well (with understanding lol) so when he goes into Reception in Sept I am interested to see what happens! Otherwise, I'm sure it's enough if you just read with him at home.

swan birthday party sounds brilliant - happy birthday twins

Mad thinking of you tomorrow, you too have done brilliantly with ds1 to manage a party with all you're going through.

everyone waves

Mum has been for tea, it was really nice. I have done lots of sorting in the garage - there are huge expanses of floor to walk on now! Also just about to put some stuff on freecycle.

see you all tomorrow. Lark Rise followed by Traditionally Built African Detective. An evening of matriarchs!

wendyrednoseredhair · 15/03/2009 19:44

Evening all

Pressies wrapped for DS1
Little gift for DS2
We are all tidied up

Swan I am glad that things went well for you too. I can not believe that my little baby is 4. He came home from dropping mum off and said "mummy you are a very speical lady, you made me chocolate cake" They make it all worthwile, no matter how hard it is really.

I am looking forward to giving him his gifts in the morning and even more to watching him on the peddle car mum has got him once I get back from the hospital.

Good night and thanks for all being here for me.

Wendy I enjoyed the lady detectives

EHM Hope to see you soon
