do you think we ought to expect many more?

bodiddly · 10/01/2009 21:42

omg that's loads!

Kbear · 10/01/2009 21:43

time for the poison - sad but true, they gotta go

I once caught 14 in a humane trap then realised that there were more of them than I could handle!

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:44

yup! Next door is empty & has a SERIOUS problem with them but the landlord seems to be ignoring our constant nagging at him to do something about it

I just hope there aren't many more to be caught tonight. There were 2 caught at once the last time my oh emptied it!

Bit of an infestation then.......

Get a cat?

bellavita · 10/01/2009 21:45

Where are these mice when they are being caught lucysmam?

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:46

Cats play with stuff though & give it to you as a present when it's half eaten. Don't fancy that much but it may be worth borrowing one from someone

OP posts:
lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:47

we've put the trap out of the way in the back hallway as they seem to spend ages scuttling about in there bella

OP posts:
bodiddly · 10/01/2009 21:47

do you want to borrow one of my cats? Mind you, one is too fat and lazy to bother and the other would catch them and then present them to you one at a time!

CarGirl · 10/01/2009 21:47

But I think the mice will realise there are better routes to take!

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:48

bodiddly, thank-you but no. I don't fancy being given mice as presents

OP posts:
bodiddly · 10/01/2009 21:50

can't say I blame you. I try to avoid the presents I receive from them

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:51

lol, my old cat gave me a half eaten bird once! yuk

& snap goes the trap . . . 8 & counting

We had mice in the garage last week, well we have known they have been around for a while as they keep eating into stuff like the bags which hold the compost and bird food.

But it came to a head when DH went to find something in a box we use for sandpaper, brushes odd bits and the mice had made a nest in there bleurgh - the smell was awful.

He put the box on the lawn and bloody things were jumping out every where.

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:53

they are only coming through to ours since next door moved out in the middle of the night!!! & our landlord has some boxing in to have finished so we know how they're getting in, just not where

MissisBoot · 10/01/2009 21:53

Can you call up environmental health and get them to get your neighbour to do something about it.

Sounds like you need more than traps.

bellavita · 10/01/2009 21:54

are they actually in your house?

ThursdayNext · 10/01/2009 21:55

lucysmam, what kind of trap are you using? The mice here seem to be completely ignoring my traps.
They have been poohing on the sofa and the kitchen worktop, I really, really need to get rid of them!

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:57

it's a "little nippa" like you see on Tom & Jerry cartoons, cost £1.40 from local pet shop & it's flaming lethal.

They LOVE peanut butter too ThursdayNext, for some reason. They're literally going to it as soon as the trap is back down

bella, yeah they're in the house

OP posts:
bellavita · 10/01/2009 21:59

I screamed and ran a mile with them jumping out of the box outside, if they came into the house, seriously, I would have to move out for a while

I don't even like spiders, so mice..

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 21:59

ThursdayNext, if you keep any food out overnight either put it in a metal or glass container or away. & don't leave any pots about either. I've been washing everything in sight as soon as it's finished with to discourage them from climbing the worktops.

My kitchen is spotless! for the first time ever there's no clutter whatsoever

How about glue pads - totally inhumane but better than any of you getting sick from their urine. Once we caught over 20 in one night - that was when I was in student digs though. For every one you caught there will be eight more. Sorry.

lucysmam · 10/01/2009 22:02

you know what bella, I thought I'd be squeamish about the traps but they're not half as bad as I thought. I'm worse with spiders than mice, that's for sure

MissisBoot, good thinking, will get onto them first thing Monday

OP posts:
lucysmam · 10/01/2009 22:03

glue pads MissisBoot, tell me more

OP posts:
MissisBoot · 10/01/2009 22:06

here They are very effective.

anothermansmother · 10/01/2009 22:10

lucysmam...i understand what you mean by empty houses they cleared 7 loads of rubbish from my next door neigbours and that was after 5 visits from enviromental health who also cleared stuff from the house and totoally cleared the back yard whaich was...VILE!!!!
dont use glue pads...you either have the things screaming to get off, or they nor through there own legs to get off them then walk alkinds through your house...not nice!
i got pest control in as soon as i had one...call your local councils 24 hour line they can get you booked in asap.
