Morning all

Am suprisingly awake
(am making concious effort to drink less alcohol ..I had two cans of fosters yesterday when normally on a Saturday night it would be 5+ )

Dh is flying off to Dubai again today (at 4pm) so am planning nice Sunday lunch.

To do:

Get chicken out of freezer (bugger should have done this last night!)
Iron two shirts (finished rest of ironing pile yesterday)
Make sure ds does his reading homework
Clear up kitchen
Pay bills online
Get swimming gear ready for tommorrow (aqua aerobics)

I have several books I want to read finish I really should get in the habit again , my brain is a sausagemeat mush at the moment, sodden with closer and heat magazine.

Have a good day (all seem to be doing very well!)

Morning !
Feeling better this morning here too. DS slept till 5 am [shoc] YAY! I even went to bed early too so actually had decent ammount of sleep !
Off to Church in a bit, then planning on quiet afternoon with kids. Maybe a spot of baking.
Making conscious effort to do bare minumum on the household front today. Ignoring urge to get started blitzing bathroom.
Will have nice restful day, to recharge ready for week ahead.
Happy Sunday everyone!

scattyspice · 11/01/2009 09:00

Well done on the 2 cans Sag. I'm trying to drink less too .

Today:
write cards and thank you card
swimming
dc homework
ds party
run
ironing
laundry

Hope everyone has a restful day.

BiancaCastafiore · 11/01/2009 09:06

Morning

We're going to have a lazy day today.
I find Sundays v difficult when I work on Sats. The kids and I enjoy going to Sunday Club at the locl church but that means leaving dh and not being home till 12.30; then lunch, then kids homework, then the weekend is almost over and we haven't had any family time
Today we are skipping Sunday Club and going swimming instead which will be v nice
Dd has a huge amount of research to do for her homework so we'll need a decent amount of time to do that this aft then we have borrowed Mama Mia to watch later (much to ds' annoyance! He wants to watch Clone Wars - again!)

Have a great day everyone

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 11/01/2009 09:10

Morning

Off to see the wiggles at the cinema now, will report back later

Oh and I wish the boys would sleep, DS2 up from 1.30 till 3, DS1 from 4 and he decided to wake his little brother at 5.30 - joy

swanriver · 11/01/2009 09:37

Feel the same about fitting church into Sunday Bianca (even without your Sats (marking?) They love Children's Liturgy but if we haven't gone out on on Saturday for an family walk, (what with all these jolly activities and classes ) Sunday is then a bottleneck. So DH and I have decided we are going to Botanic Gardens today to regenerate instead of me taking kids to church.

Everyone has slept very well.

To do
Take food out of freezer for supper
Wash final batch - all uniform for Monday
Get everyone dressed and into car
Go for long walk and lunch
Back
Afternoon film
more homework
more practice
Whats for dinner? roast, courgettes fennel potatoes

Sorry about your bad night TMH. Mine woke each other at 6 yesterday because I left window open - cold. Today I was lucky. Although ds2 did wake today early and we put him in front of telly

Thanks for the skype tip Wolfcub but she has dodgy broadband connection in NZ, apparently you can't get unlimited connection so one skype call uses up a month's worth of broadband or something. Would be better! My best friend and I do email several times a week but she has 3 dds and a very hardworking DH who isn't in much, and when he is in is on the laptop working, so she doesn't get much computer time!

DS got up from the sofa yesterday, we went to MIL's house about 4 pm, and he was back in bed voluntarily at 4.15pm. Got him up for his tea, thinking he was just tired, but clearly he wasn't well. anyway he was sick and then laid on the sofa for a couple of hours. MIL not surprised, as a boy DH was sick about once a fortnight on average, he apparently was always sick when overtired or over excited - and still is(luckily not the over excited bit now lol ) so she's used to sick!

He went to bed at 7 pm at home and slept all night til 8.30 pm, no more vomit yet. He is hot though and just lying on the sofa looking dejected - he NEVER does this, even when he is ill. Mind you, he is hardly ever ill so I don't get much experience of it with him.

DD is as bright as a button especially as she got a lie in - he usually wakes her at 6 am as they share a room.

Planning on having a very quiet day and getting lots done - in a restful sort of way. Going to Lidl to do the shopping, in case ds is at home ill tomorrow and I can't go tomorrow.

George had a friend over this week whose mum is only just 21! (i'm 34) It was an interesting afternoon chatting to her to see life through someone else's eyes - she was truly amazed at how we live i.e. to her it all seemed like luxury even though to us on one salary it's impoverishment. Our cursed rented house we hate was a palace to her with one downstairs room and no bath in her bathroom, and no central heating, only a calor gas heater. Anyway I offered to help with her studies (I'm an English teacher) as she is 3 days a week at college doing an Access to HE course - she is one determined young woman, wants to be a primary school teacher and as she says, make a better life for her dd. So I'm off round there to give her a lesson tonight.

Shopping
Ironing
Go to MIL's - knitting!
Garage for Englishy books
Do research for lesson
Air out dc's rooms and changed beds/tidy up
Washing - sick!
Clean out the fridge (before shop!)
Chill

BED EARLY - Midnight last night - hopeless.

Have been tidiying up after dp since I got back and I am ready to strangle him he makes so much work for me. Just made bed and am off for a shower now before I start the rest of my day

grouchyoscar · 11/01/2009 10:45

Thank goodness it is a little warmer here today Ruby

Hello all

Pleased to report I am in a better state of health than I was yesterday. I have tons to do. Might help me get to grips with this while I'm busy.

Dust bedroom
Load WM and run

TO DO

Clean out the cat cellar
Sweep and mop the kitchen
Tidy the Lego coated front room
Make bed
Tidy bedroom
Put clean dry washing away
Tidy Ed's room
Get some PC instruction from DH
Ironing
Lay out clothes for morning

Do some reading with Ed
Sort/swap wet/dry washing and us TD where required

In no particular order.

Lots to do so I better crack on really

Tickle · 11/01/2009 10:47

Hello folks -

Hope your ds is feeling better Wendy.

Finding it a bit difficult to get into a FLYing routine... I get distracted by other things, then when I think, "ok, I should shine the sink" - I look at it, and it looks ok, cos I did it yesterday, so I think "there must be something more important I should do".

So I end up pottering about the house as usual being a bit ineffective

ds2's 3rd birthday tomorrow, so we have family and friends for tea... so I have a deadline!

Off I go, wish me luck

wendythepositivethinker · 11/01/2009 11:37

Good luck Tickle KWYM about the sink thing, but I think it does work if you shine it every day as it makes you do the rest of the chaos so it looks as good as the shiny sink. Also if i don't shine it, i often don't do anything else either! and end up as you say pottering being ineffective. The sink thing gives you a purpose and a routine, and if you get used to the sink routine, then you can get used to the next one, and the next one, etc

Well anyway that's what these lovely flysisters on here have taught me

DS still on sofa watching TV. DD and DH gone to the tip with recycling and general rubbish from garage. A lady came from Freecycle this morning and took away our old vacuum cleaner. The garage is a bomb site but baby steps!

Off to do jobs now. Oh, I did a bit of knitting! Cast on 10 stitches then did 10 rows on some chopsticks Going to MIL today to show her and get a lesson.

wendythepositivethinker · 11/01/2009 12:14

Just printed off loads of resources for my friend I'm going to tutor - quite enjoyed it so far! Perhaps I really will enjoy it when I go back to work.

Spiderplant · 11/01/2009 13:28

Hi all

I'm just waiting for pork and roasts to finish cooking here. Weather is dismal. DH has been out cycling and came home soaked.

Its very sunday-ish today (I know....it is sunday, but today it feels very sunday-ish IYKWIM)
I'm very pleased the frost has gone even if it is gloomy.

Spiderplant · 11/01/2009 13:33

Oh...Bianca I meant to say, I have posted a parcel off for your dc....my sincerest apologies for it being so late!! I don't really have a credible excuse either, just kept managing to not do it! I do apologise for that though [hopeful for forgiveness]
Hope you had a good swim, your house sounds very much like ours....just lately DD1 has watched nothing but Mama Mia and DS nothing but Clone Wars!!

EHM · 11/01/2009 14:17

i am full off snot again. not done much, only been out to put recyclying in bins yesterday/today its soooooo cold. Will be back flying tomorrow once dd at preschool. We also need to move dd into the bigger bedroom, we call the spare room & dd is stuck in box room. Visitors will have to do with the box room I am afraid. Hope you & your lo's are well.

Spider enjoy the roast
bianca likewise the swimming
ruby a new car, lucky you!
MAD enjoy the cinema.

Thats all `i can remember folks

grouchyoscar · 11/01/2009 14:18

My good intentions have been sidetracked by my Cack handed DH who broke the bath waste trying to clean it, the twerp

So off we all troop to the local DIY, buy a new standard one and...it doesn't fit (it's a big victorian cast iron bath) so, BIL on his way to take DH to B&Q/Wickes in the next town.

I have a giddy Ed to look after now...eeeekkkk arrrggghhh

Spiderplant · 11/01/2009 15:15

Well Lunch was nice

Wendy I like your chopstick idea! I can't nit at all....I have thought about trying but I think the most I've ever done is a very small scarf!

swanriver · 11/01/2009 16:25

Back from long family walk in botanic gardens. Everyone seems in a very good mood now, especially dh and I've managed to engineer a bit of handwriting and violin practice (5 mins each) before afternoon film.

Grouchy glad you are feeling a bit better. I think we are lucky to live in this beautiful country.
Wendy, sorry to hear about ds. That's what my dcs had over Christmas, weakness fever etc it went on quite a long time unfortunately. But I had it and it went in two days.
Tickle, that's a bit how I feel. But the shiny sink thing is becoming more and more automatic, but I still don't feel I'm a slave to it. If I need to go to bed early now, I will and leave last pans/dishes discreetly soaking, although that is probably not allowed. Trying to make routine work for me rather than getting fanatical.
Wolfcub that sounds v. annoying but then delicious lunch and productive day. But sometimes fussy tidy men are worse than messy men, tho has to be said that dh has the capacity to be both and so in fact do I...

Greyskull, it's not the Circle of Life, it's the circle of laundry imo.

I've put supper in the oven and will now go and watch end of film with family. This would have been a perfect opportunity to knit, but next weekend perhaps..
