Hello.
Had a busy day yesterday clearing DD's room. It is now clean and tidy!
I took 2 bags of stuff to chairty shop inc some cuddly toys and a pile of books.
Also have a pile of books and toys to sell to raise money for a summer holiday. Probably try on MN 1st then Ebay. Half way through photographing them now.

So far today i have done an exercise DVD and had a hot bath! Oh and walked the dog.

For any FLYers trying to get back on track with food try this free website. I am finding it pretty good so far.

grouchyoscar · 07/01/2009 12:57

Cleaned the odd stain in tbe cast iron bath by using 4 parts bicard to 1 part washing soda and rubbing it into the stain, then rinse it off! Thought I'd share that with you

Tickle · 07/01/2009 13:27

bianca not sure if you can get it in the uk, but I use a product called Rodalon.. kills mould but doesn't bleach. We have mould on some of the walls at the mo, cos we relaid the floor and the concrete subfloor is still drying out - makes the house a bit swampy

I have attacked more of the bathroom mess, mopped kitchen floor and mucked out the ponies. Thinking about getting a quick ride in before LOs come home... it is a gorgeous frosty sunny day here

AnneOfAvonlea · 07/01/2009 13:40

Bianca - try vanish foamy stuff (pink can) or bicarb.

Had lunch with DD2 and DH today which was nice. DD1 is at her first afterschool club so I dont need to collect her until 4.15

Baking a cake at the moment as a housework avoidance tactic.

Tortoise · 07/01/2009 13:48

Just had a call from the hospital. My gall bladder op has been changed again. Was meant to be the 21st now the 28th.

islandofsodor · 07/01/2009 14:49

Just had the holiday clen up mission on email. How did she know my decorations are all in a box on the landing at the top of the stairs waiting to go up in the loft?

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 07/01/2009 15:02

Afternoon all

Not done much on the fly front, but loved the swimming

DS1 has had a bit of a meltdown as he is so tired, well past sleep. I took him up to my bed and have tried laying with him, but we ended up having a pillow fight and now he is running round in the nude - cue the heating has gone on.

Not sure what to do for the reat of the afternoon, as our plans have been scuppered as friend and LO are unwell.

Perhaps baking and colouring

She knows everything sodor .

Tickle- you have ponies - how lovely .

Tort - that is frustrating .

Off to school now - then swimming. BBL.

swanriver · 07/01/2009 15:18

Swimming is knackering is it all the chlorine I feel knocked out just sitting on the edge watching them splash around let alone getting in.
Cocacola will apparently revive child on last legs and get them through till bedtime

Just come back from library/work semi -confrontation where I said I couldn't do last session of 20 mins without helper, as I am completely untrained volunteer etc etc. Can see this is going to be a game of bluff as the teachers are refusing to give up TAs during their planning time. But it is all too frantic at moment in library because I'm responsible for too many jumping bean 4-5 year olds. Anyway feeling brave but now guilty for speaking.

Back to school again to pick up.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 07/01/2009 15:25

Swan Good for you for speaking out. Sometimes it is what is needed.

I ahve build a train track with the boys and they are playing nicely ish

Swimming kit is washed.

DS1 is requesting a bath - DS2 will want to get in, but I showered him off after swimming - I will learn. Taking one is all new to me.

We are going to have fish and home made wedges and peas for dinner - yum. I am going to eat with the boys.

I am currently in despair at own PO, as it takes days for things to get delivered and it should only be a day or two. Placed an order last week and it is still not here

Anyway back again - less resistance to telly free life. DD has gone to bed, put on her pyjamas, is now listening to HorridH on cassette, requesting toast and hot choc. Ds's still complaining mildly but seem to have found something to do involving electricity but which is not a screen.

Pasta for supper, tuna bake? - what a good idea Galen, only will have to muster energy for a white sauce and cheese grater.

Still to do
homework
ironing
cup of tea

BiancaCastafiore · 07/01/2009 16:08

Dd and I are home from school
We have had a nice walk round the village to the library and the village shop (no luck there for vanish foam, will have to look in the bigger town sometime - thanks for the tip AoA )
Dd is lounging on the sofa with the cat, reading a book and eating Jelly Tots Sometimes she is such a mini-me

Ds has gone to a friends till 5. I'm trying to walk everywhere but will have to take the car to collect ds as the friend lives across the village and we need to get a move on and have supper ready for dd to go to Brownies this eve.

Oh, and dd walked into the utility room and proclaimed me the best tidier-upper ever

Tortoise · 07/01/2009 16:38

Bianca How sweet your DD is.

Just back from school run and trying to warm up. Had a very brief snow shower on the way home.
DD2 shouted out ' It is actually snowing'

swanriver · 07/01/2009 16:52

oh dear have got slightly ahead of myself and given everyone supper of tuna bake at only 4.30 - well they did seem ravenously hungry and ds helped grate lots of cheese, which he ate before it even got sprinkled..

No Beavers this evening, feeling rather relieved, I'm ashamed to say.

Ds2 needs to be put to work again now so perhaps he can help make fruit salad. He really is the most skittish child and keeps flying in and out of kitchen like some mad dervish.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 07/01/2009 17:10

I am feeling my lack of sleep today, as is DS1. Bath time was chaos and I really wish I hadnt bothered.

I am just doing their dinner and then I will go and mop upstairs

swanriver · 07/01/2009 17:25

Put on a nice telly programme, they've had lots of exercise (unlike my kids today) and probably need to just collapse. Dd (only just emerged from bed) has refused to eat my tuna bake was it too early or perhaps just horrible? Anyway now having to prepare alternative of slightly past sellby date frankfurters to avoid more confrontation.

Still, ds2 has enjoyed using a large knife on the fruit salad apples. Now he is in a trance humming to himself and building enormous teetering towers in the playroom.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 07/01/2009 18:41

Swan I tried the TV programme thing - just wasnt working. Madness has ensured. I have handed them over to DH, before I lose my temper. He was laughing at me with my "I can not and will not tolerate this behaviour" - boys being boys and me having a short fuse I fear.

Anyway have a freidn coming over for the phil and teds, so once they are in bed I will gather it all together.

Tesco shop is due

Must finnish list for Aldi shop with mum in the morning.

So I am having a cup of tea and all I can hear is "STOP" from DH - oh dear

Rubes DH has 28 of the buggers to do in addition to standards months work - yes he is an accountant for his sins

Tax returns what a nightmare, I have had trouble renuing my Tax Disc just now LOL.

Swimming went well, although not much swimming and a lot of playing .

Cleared paper work pile.

Need to get dc ready for bed soon.

galen · 07/01/2009 19:21

NYNMH - Lack of sleep is a killer. It always hits me between 4 - 7pm - just when everyone needs me, tea to be done, homework, baths etc... Hope you get a better night tonight (am also crossing my fingers for the same here LOL)

swan - did she have toast and hot choc in bed? maybe that filled her up too much. I'm sure your Tuna bake was lovely! There is always at least one of mine that moans about what is for tea and claims not to like it. But I absolutely refuse to make seperate meals for different children! I serve a healthy meal and they can either eat it or leave it! (no pudding for those that leave it though!) maybe I am just heartless LOL

So have managed:
put washing away
mopped floors downstairs
played with dd's 3 and 4
quick tidy
school pick up
home - snack for all DC
Lunchboxes done
kids did Riley challenge agin - FAB!
read with DD2
dinner eaten ( tuna bake!)
dinner cleared away, DW on
Flloors swept
Kitchen surfaces wiped down
DD3's school stuff sorted
Sorted out 2 emails I had been putting off dealing with ( no more procrastinating!)
3 out of 6 DC in bed, 2 reading, one still lounging about somewhere ( 10 yr old DS is practising to be a teenager LOL)

Oh looks quite impressive! I love writing done what I've got done!(ignoring all I haven't done!) Feeling quite exhausted though - so not doing much else tonight.

Tomorrow I may have to try to excavate my bedroom. I can't do next babystep as I have nowhere to put my clothes out, and most are in a giant heap on the floor. The trouble is Ds sleeps in there still, so I can't do it when he is asleep - but can't do it when he is awake as I am minding him then.... hmmm

Anyway well done all.
Those of you that have managed swimming have my total admiration. I haven't managed swimming in ages ( mostly cause I have too many under 5's and you are only allowed so many to one adult) ... might be able to when DD 3 is at school ful time, need to wait for warmer weather though!

grouchyoscar · 07/01/2009 19:31

Hello all you FLYers.

Been well busy. DH calls me at 5 to say he'll be late so I also had to

Make tea
tidy away
Load DW and run
Load WM and run
Work out why sink is slow running (Partially frozen pipe I think
Clean out pan cupboard (where water had leaked.

AAAGGGHHH

Well, butties done etc etc, all is OK. Honestly, this place would grind to a halt if I wasn't about!

Wolfcub · 07/01/2009 20:03

evening all

Been a long work day today

Made bed
Took ds to granny
Picked ds up from granny
Picked dp up from bus station
Made dinner
Am just epilating legs as I resemble a hirsute yeti- it hurts M trying to distract myself

Wolfcub · 07/01/2009 21:05

ds is currently
Putting up a major bedtime fight. I am thinking of getting him a proper night light - he currently has one of those like a little plug cover. I am fairly sure that the current bedtime crisis is do's fault though. Grr

swanriver · 07/01/2009 21:18

Hope everyone's children conked out in the end. Mine were just on brink of slumber when they heard dh's cheery voice in hall, but after second dinner of cereal, lasagne, applejuice the little wretches are now fast asleep.

Thanks for your kind words Galen, I think my tuna bake just wasn't as nice as yours.

You sound exhausted wolfcub, I'm sorry.

Slightly unpleasant atmosphere round here as dh is criticising the way I put away decs last night and is also refusing to let me iron anything! I think he regards it as fiddling while Rome burns, although fiddling would be useful too, as dcs still have not done their violin practice.
