Today me and DS2 are off swimming, first time without DS1
Also my beloved Phil and Ted is off to a new home - my BF is expecting her second in two weeks, so is lending it. I will miss it, as it has been the best thing ever, but I am so glad that it will be getting more use - I need to dig out all the bits for it.

Quick question

Those with 5-6yr olds (esp boys) what do they play with? DS has played constantly with his various action figures (power rangers etc) for past 2 yrs but has recently lost interest and constantly says he's bored. All he wants to do is go on the computer or playstation. He accepts that he shouldn't do this all the time but can't think of anything else to do .

Scatty my ds is 5 and plays with dinosaur figures, Star Wars figures/light sabres and occasionally he still likes to get his train track out He's prone to playing on the comp too but we now have a voucher system for computer time each week to limit time and his playing elsewhere skills have improved no end

I did the mission yesterday as I had a food delivery
I'd like to have a quick whizz round with the hoover today and then spend some time in the utility room which is at it's worst again. It seems to be a room I have no control over for some reason...

Oh yes scatty, I agree with tickles about bionicles - ds got loads for Christmas and is loving them

Thanks for thread tmh hope you enjoy your 1-1 swimming with DS2, My DS2 certainly enjoyed some 1-1 yesterday without having DS1 ploughing in all the time.

scatty DS1 is only 4.5 but he plays ALOT with lego, building kits or building airplanes/rockets that he has designed (they don't always resemble a rocket but hey what do I know ) I am definately going to have to limit computer time as he loves it and would be on it all day every day if he could.

Tickle Welcome procrastination is a very hard thing to shake - have you done the baby steps?

Bianca we have thick frost here it looks magical but that is because I have not had to go out yet... may well change my mind when going out in an hour My Utility rooms tends to be a waiting ground for things to go into the garage - which is a dumping ground for things to go to recycling/tip it just seems never ending. If you find a solution - please share

Well thankfully my friend canceled having coffee this morning - it was going to be hard to fit it in but she has been really sad over Christmas and I didn't know how to say no when she invited me.

I am having a last little clear round (after MN) before getting dressed. Have to go into town to get some stuff to make a golf cake and to get the last few bits for my course which starts again tonight.

Then dropping DS2 off whilst I go for my Wednesday meeting - am all anxious again because it has been a few weeks since I have been.

I am a beginner, so starting with baby steps... but does that mean I do baby steps and the mission every day? I notice Flylady is very keen on not taking on too much at once, which I am liking the sound of!

definately start with the babysteps.

I found that some babysteps I did more than one each day BUT I think they are important to go through.

If you can do the mission as well that is fabulous! Good on you.

Scatty re ds playing. Ds2 aged 6 likes reading technical books, playing with wooden bricks, vet sort of games with his sister with furry animals, wooden train track endlessly (although can't build one) and a bit of lego, although won't really do without adult feedback. Never does drawing, painting, craft unless at school. What he likes best is to dance around to Mary Poppins cd or other very energetic songs. He would be a computer addict if I let him ie; adores ninendo ds. But I don't let him play ds except weekends, and computer when we go swimming. He also likes dressing up.
(He's being very tiresome at the moment to tell the truth, burping, screaming and being generally annoying) He loves to go to the park and run around too so we do a lot of that.

Anyway this morning I have:
Organised kerbside recycling
Tidied kitchen
Unloaded and loaded dishwasher
Swept floor
Taken pyjamas upstairs and put on beds
Shaken out rugs and tablecloth
Found mobile recharger AT LAST under a hotspot

Now, I've decided all hotspots are being created by paperwork which has not been tackled, so that first before any more deep cleaning.

i am new and i am going to start with the baby steps shine the sink.

scatty it was about that age my DS1 got into lego. Also loved other construction stuff like Knex, magnetix, gears etc...

Well DS 2 decided to start the day at 5.30 this morning LOL!Bit exhausted, but it does mean I got loads done before school drop off!

DD's 3 and 4 beds made DD's 1 and 2 made own beds Ds1's still a pit - am ignoring!

Tuna pasta bake made for tea - in fridge

Kitchen wiped down, sink shone

Floors swept

3 kids delivered to school

Been to shops for jam for sponge cake and fresh bunch of daffs for kitchen!

Home - snack for DD's 3 and 4, DS 2 fed and up for nap, me cup of tea and 1/2 hour MN time!

To do today:
Sort out DD3's stuff for first day of reception tomorrow

Put away last of washing

Baking with DD's

Mop downstairs floors

Baby step day 7, and maybe mission

I am really starting to see how little routines can keep things ticking over. A daily S&S seems to be stopping the bathrooms degenerating, and keeping on top of the kitchen is a great help. A few mins a day will save hours I'm sure!

Tickle babysteps are a very good way of building a daily routine which in the long run is a brilliant thing!

Greyskull you and I have the same type of utility room I think Our main problem with ours is that it's the only downstairs room (other than teh cloakroom) which isn't open plan so it ends up as a dumping ground.
We use it to house; coats, gloves, wellies, hats etc; wm, microwave, td and ironing pile; house/car cleaning stuff, spare bulbs, batteries etc etc; wrapping paper and spare presents; board games/puzzles. PLUS "stuff" which is as yet unhomed or on it's way to the garage/tip/charity shop/freecycle.
Agh! It's a nightmare!

I have spent the morning sorting through coats/wellies etc and have a few ready to give away and all others hung back on correct pegs etc. Dh wears layers of fleeces etc for work and tends to just leave the heaped on the floor so I'll be relocating them to the wardrobe and having words with him about that habit later - I've found 3 wearable fleeces in there and one covered in sawdust which should have been put in the wm!
Better get back to it or I'll loose momentum.

wow galen that's quite a list - respect! We have 4 kids, but they are all at school/daycare today - on days when the little ones are home I find I get nothing done (except get cross at how messy the house becomes!)

Anyway, I have been shining my sink - well sinks, as we have 3 in the kitchen (it's a cafe in summer you see).

Haven't tackled mission yet, but have sorted out the bathroom junk basket and thrown away lots of outdated bottles, jars and makeup

And Bianca and Greyskull - your futility rooms sound very like mine!

I just found a bag for each child containing some of last years half eaten Easter eggs in the utility room Two year since I joined these threads; I am a failed FLYer

I wish I could leave chocolate in the house for that long

I have eaten some already...the kids have clearly forgotten it ever exsisted; it may as well go to a good home

I can now leave my utility room door open with confidence You can walk right in, put washing in the machine with the washing basket on the floor () in front of the machine It looks sooooo much better - I just need to maintain it now...been here before I think! I will try harder this time.

Tickle hi! Yes I often don't get much done with the littlies around LOL, only managed so much this morning cause most were still in bed for ages LOL

bianca mine always end up with far too many Easter Eggs. Last year I ended up breaking a lot of them up and using them in various baking projects!

Well, had a busy morning, but not got too far down my To do list!
Have baked - made a victoria sponge and 2 dozen scones. Had VERY active participation from DD's ( aged 2 and 4!) and Ds decided not to nap so ended up throwing various kitchen utensils round kitchen whilst we baked! As a result it took all morning, and kitchen eneded up a scene of total devastation - but we had fun, and have yummy cakes LOL!

Baking stuff washed and put away.

Ds finally persuaded to nap!

Better FLY

We have been left with the most awful stain on our carpet where our Christmas tree was - I think the bucket may have a fine crack in it or something as the stain is a damp moudly looking mark. I have tried some 1001 mousse but it's not really had much effect....any other products anyone can recommend?

Re utility rooms. I have the same problem - everything gets dumped on the floor so its very difficult to find anyting/access fridge etc. Need to sort it and planning to plumb washing machine in there soon.

Thank you for the ideas for ds. He sounds just like your ds swan (a touch hyper actve and totally silly). So far he hasn't shown much interest in LEGO. He did get a small magnetics set for Xmas which he likes and we have some kids knex which he likes, I think I need to get more of it so that he has bigger kits. I haven't tried bionicles or the other one yet .
