I promised dd2 that i'd decorate her room in 09 and she hasn't forgotten lol.

At the mo it is bright pink with disney princess border and she hates it.

I was thinking of doing the walls completely white and then having really bright accessories. She already has a white duvet cover with brightly coloured spots on and I have seen a few others that would go too.

Thing is, will I regret painting it white ??

Oh and if the room was white then what colour furniture ?

Thanks for all of the tips, you have given me some great ideas.

Have just been on the site for the cataloge i have and got her a duvet cover, curtains and 2 pictures for £52 in the sale.
They are all from the same range but will go well with anything really and she liked the colours and patterns.

Looks like I might be doing this room sooner than I thought.

Have to agree about white - DD and DS have always had white rooms with wood floors ( we've moved 3 times!) and it's great - really easy to paint over if one of them draws on the walls or whatever, and quick to update with new bedding, pictures etc as they get older. Got DD's 'shabby chic' furniture from a junk/antique shop already painted creamy off-white - almost cheaper than IKEA ( eg £150 for lovely wardrobe which will last her until she's grown up) and no assembly required.

AH NAO- boontje also does a fabulous tracery window curtain thingy- for privacy but not frumpy nets. I am coveting it for the living room...

NAO - what colour are the curtains?

NotanOtter · 29/12/2008 21:29

Eachpeach will look! Nappyaddict they are a mulberryish type - dd calls then 'shot silk' I let her believe it is! (sounds far superior to ikea man made!)

EPPM - does dd have white curtains in her room? DS' bedroom is white but has blue accessories atm. Can't decide if white curtains would be too much white.

nappy- DD has curtains that are a chambray blue colour, from IKEA- they are full ceiling to floor length, reasonably thick, and we have a black-out blind behind.
They go nicely thankfully, but they weren't bought specifically for her room- we already had them and they fit her window when we moved her to her own room I am so used to them now, that I haven't thought of replacing them.

I would still go for dark curtains if we changed them- I like pitchy blackness to sleep in- so does she!

White and the dd's?

Does white come in dark now then?

DD1 is in charge of decor in the dd's new bedroom as DD2 is too young to care. She has choosen Dr. Who for her theme and wants the walls purple. Purple and red I think would fit in nicely with Dr.Who? Or red and blue. Haven't decided yet. But definately not white. Not unless it now comes in dark?

I have a white nursery for my baby. I have white furniture against a white walls, walnut flooring and walnut shelves. I also have a jungle theme decal to add colour, as well as some art glass. I find it all very relaxing - the baby can chose his own decor when older!
