Went to school with about 9 clanking jars and bottles to give teachers, teaching assts, admin staff and lollypop lady nothing alcoholic, only the scoutmasters get brandy. Returned from school with 2 homemade vehicles taxi and red bus (d & t project) and half a hotplate I'd left behind, and of course the children... All lovely and calm now, children watching telly for an hour then we might go and deliver brandy bottles! and have a little walk in the dusky streets.

Mission
Bath scrub

There are lots of other things to do, but I doubt that any will get done namely
ironing
yard sweeping
Post office

Things to do with children
Xmas decs
Thankyou card to scoutleader
pastry rolling
jam tarts
potting of dead geranium and xmas flowers
spraying gold paint through a doily
make beds
make neat piles of their clothes in their drawers as an inspiration to them
visit Xmas Forest on bus to select xmas tree after delivering brandy
Write message to their cousins before sending parcel.

I didn't know the layering idea for bed-wetters...I might give it a try with ds who still wets the bed fairly frequently.

I have wrapped a load of presents and faffed about wasting time doing God-Knows-What with myself now as I'll have to leave for school soon.
We need to sort the presents for teachers tonight and are also hoping to go carol singing around the village I need a dose of Christmas Spirit as I'm still not really feeling Christmassy thsi year

Hello ALL

DONE
UP
Empty DW
Handwash what didnt clean (sod discounted brand DW tab, they are RUBBISH)
Make breakfast
Eat breakfast
Shine sink
Clean workttops Put away clean dry stuff
Ed to school
Home
Tidy round
Go buy tree, logs and coal
Make lunch
Wash up
Tidy the cellar head
Move board and iron out of the ironing corner to cellar head
Top up the shavings in the cellar
Instal cat tray in the kitchen ( we have an elderly puss who has become rather incontinent)
Check post and e-mails

Bit fed up, I spent ages with Ed last night learning his poem for the school carol concert and parents were NOT allowed to go! I'd have loved to be there. Ah well, I'm sure he did OK

So, what's thhe news?

swanriver · 18/12/2008 14:11

Bianca I know what you mean, its partly that knot of tension that comes from thinking something has been forgotten, someone missed something not done, and fears for the future. It's so difficult to get past all that organising and worrying to the actual pleasure of being with the family seeing friends and feeling mentally free.

I did the present drops last week. As we baked buscuits for all the staff at the Preschool and a small cake for DS1's key workers (for some reason he has two), that way I could relax about this week. Also I thought that they will get so much this week might as well be early adn then they will remember

Groucy Thats a bit about the carol service

I am pooped today

Swan Enjoy getting the tree etc

Ruby I will try your layering method, although we have a fabby waterproof toweling sheet for DS1 - expensive but worth it from John Lewis (well it wasnt when you factor in the cost of the bed mats)

jas I found a half eaten sweet dwon the backl of my sofa

Right, done lots and feeling much more in control. Will leave the ironing for tonight I think and just relax a bit for the rest of the afternoon.

Like the layering idea for wet beds. We're not at that stage yet but will store it away for future use...

I didn't mean presents for teachers causing knot of tension TMH, just christmas preparations in general, I get a bit rabbit in headlights iyswim. I have to really make a conscious effort get to feel awe and wonder rather than a sort of dismal panicky feeling of trouble ahead. But it's very silly of me, so I'm just going to try and reset the codes. Children are now screaming at me and each other, possibly because they are exhausted and possibly because I need to make a real effort with them now.. Bfnow
