Morning all

Fridays are date night in the Fly week, which means we try and make an effort to have a nice evening with DH. For me it means no computer and that we sit at the table and eat without the children, during the week we eat with them.

Our new babysteps for today are to make your bed when you get out of it. I do this for all the beds before I come downstairs now.

read an email from FLy or if you done get them then read something of the web site

So now our routines are looking something like this:

Morning Routine

  • Get up and get dressed doing your hair and face
  • Make your bed
  • Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Reading 2 minutes of reminders
  • Recognizing the negative voices and changing them
  • Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes
  • 5 Minute Room Rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go!
  • Mission

Before Bed Routine

  • Keep your sink shining
  • Lay out your clothes for tomorrow
  • Put out your Hot Spot

Hello Oldies and Newbies

I feel lousy

I was 1st up and
Down with crockery
Start Porridge
Make lunchboxes
Empty DW
Put away
Take recycling out to bin
Serve breakfast
Load dishwashere with breakfast pots
Up with Ed for washing
S&S loo
S&S bathroom
Get dressed
shine sink
Get Ed to school
Do my course
Home

I am just so tired, had an awful night's sleep and I'm still in pain I was the 'body' for a pedicure demo which was nice. I just got to lay there while my tootsies were pampered.

TO DO

Make lunch
Sort out clothes to dry
Load TD and run
Do 2 hrs working in the school
collect Ed

Wait for DH to come home (late finish again )

There is a Navy helicopter in the Tesco car park for the next few days. Might take Ed for a look if I feel up to it.

He's back at school, snotty but no impetigo. He wanted to go so he could do his spelling test and show off the book he read this morning (bless)

Better get lunch down me. I have to be at school at 1. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

swanriver · 21/11/2008 12:37

bella29 · 21/11/2008 12:44

Thanks for the mission link, TMH .

Always wondered what that brown gunk was on my bathroom skirting boards!

Progress being made here - a friend popped in whose house is always immaculate and although mine was bad, it wasn't that bad. Got away with minor embarrassment instead of 'Oh God, must leave the country' kind of thing

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 21/11/2008 12:46

Thanks for the link TMH as luck would have it I did them yesterday.

Nearly all done for today, just dinner and dog and cards later.

Dp looking over my shoulder when I first came on this thread this morning, and said 'Oh date night? and isn't one of your flying things ''you can do anything for 15 minutes?'' nudge, nudge' .

Dp best kept away from flying thread I feel.

bella29 · 21/11/2008 12:48

Yes, I tried to show mine the thread sitting on his knee at the computer and he did not concentrate on it all, I fear

scattyspice · 21/11/2008 12:51

Hi all.

Wherethewildthings - you are brave. Dh would die laughing if he knew about Flylady (he thinks mn is online WI - which it is I suppose ).

To do
school run
laundry
bathnight (dcs)
meditate
read library books
watch I'm a celeb (I agree Luda - tis totally gross).

swanriver · 21/11/2008 12:57

Dh smiles sweetly and says he's been doing 15 min rescues, missions etc for last ten years. As for putting out clothes he never puts them away so that it is not a prob for him.

Hoovering done.
Beds done
Party clothes arranged
Recycled book present located.

Off to work now.

TheMadHouse · 21/11/2008 13:00

my DH knows about Fly - he is OPK with it as the house is OK. He ripped the piss out of me to begin with.

I am fed and DS1 is at preschool
DS2 is napping
I need to mop after yogurt spillage at lunch

SO will be back after that

clutterflutter · 21/11/2008 13:16

Done: two more 15 minuteses - laundry reboot, dishwasher on, lunch for self and ds, miscellaneous tidying.

Why do I forget how easy it is when you have a timer and do a bit at a time for a short while? SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier!

hippipotami · 21/11/2008 13:39

Phew, right, back again. Have done a bit of my list, but then got a phonecall from school saying ds had received a nasty bump on the head and could I come adn get him please. He is home now, but a bit subdued, a bit pale and complaining of a headache. Have administered calpol, cuddles, a pillow and a blankie and he is now on teh sofa dozing / watching a WWII documentary .
Right, my list:

room rescue - in the middle of
what's for dinner - lasagna cooked and in fridge waiting for tonight

phone restaurant - done
fill in application form - still to do, uhming and aahing over the job
empty washing machine adn hang washing - done
put dry washing away - done
pack ds's swimming bag - done but not much point now as he won't be going swimming this afternoon...

Anne, how is your dd now?
Happy birthday to DH TMH, enjoy the homemade curry (yum!)

grouchyoscar · 21/11/2008 16:38

Hello again ALL

Got to school and Ed came across the playground to tell me he was getting a certificate at assembly So I asked the ladies I'm helping with the card making if I could go. Saw him get his award and was so proud of him.

But I had to take him home early again as his snotty snout had got to him again He was happy as he'd got 10/10 in his spelling again

No sports this weekend. Lots of calpol and PJ days. Poor lamb

Jas · 21/11/2008 17:03

FLYing visit from Jas....waves back at EHM

Not well, dp at home, failing to fly

I am planning on marzipanning the Christmas cake tonight, and wrapping presents and making cards with the dds tomorrow.

clutterflutter · 21/11/2008 17:11

Well I didn't get everything as perfect as I wanted but got a hell of a lot more done than I usually manage and yet I don't feel I actually worked harder! It was nice to join you briefly for some flying (I may be climbing back on the Flylady wagon).

scattyspice · 21/11/2008 18:48

Climb aboard clutterflutter, there's room on our wagon for you! (Tra laa!)

All done (in a fashion).

ludaloo · 21/11/2008 19:08

Evening All

I'm just popping in before turning the comp off. I've been hunting out duvet covers for the kids for xmas. DD2 wants Dora and DS wants Star Wars. I forgot how expensive they are!!
I've just about started xmas shopping properly now and I'm already worried!

Anyway, Hi to all and all the new folk

MyDingaling · 21/11/2008 19:20

Hello I can see a diffeence already in the house since followig this. I am amazed how much I can do in 15 minutes.
The whoe of the downstairs has been sorted so ready to move onto upstairs at weekend.

TheMadHouse · 21/11/2008 19:35

It is great to see so many of you are inspired with the fly wthos. I think once you cut past all the smaltch - it is great and really works. As Ruby says its not so much a cleaning thing, as a household and life management thing

I have managed to finnish my list.

The boys are in bed
The ironing is done and away
Curry is on, Rice is soaking

We had candles and cake for DH and he loved it. His electronic weather station has been a big hit (from Aldi). It is so cool, inside and outside tep and humidity (oputside wireless sensor), baromic pressure, weather forcaste, min and max temps, time, moon/sun set and rise. It is really geeky, but he is really loving it

Just having ten minutes off - been really FLying today! DD's birthday tomorrow, so been busy cleaning the house, making food etc. DC went to Grandma's this afternoon so I had three hours 'off'. And you know what, when I saw them again I was like a fantastic mummy. Read them 5 stories, enthusiastically, sang songs and was generally very happy. Like my old mummy self. Perhaps going back to work is the thing for me, if only three hours off does that for me! I don't think I've been such a happy mummy in ages (well, all the rented house stuff is really getting to me, and worrying about our house money in the bank and it going bust etc etc).

Anyway, have missed you all today - hope you all have good Date nights (curry again, Mad ) The weather station sounds great - is it still for sale or did you get it ages ago?

Take care all, may well be busy tomorrow though, DD birthday party and visitors
