I need a simple fence to stop toddler wandering onto large patch of topsoil (to be a lawn next year) what to use?

Moving to a new house with big patch of topsoil which we will make into a lawn next spring, but need something to fence it off until then so ds can play out on the yard bit.

I have no idea about fences but it would need to be cheap, fairly easy to erect, and would need to be set into the soil bit as it's a rented house and we couldn't start drilling concrete.

Any ideas? I'm clueless. Would chicken wire work? Thanks in advance.

If you just need a lightweight visual barrier, then you could try this stuff You can just push it into the ground I think.

Or a row of big pots to prettify before the lawn. I got several low but wide ones to stop the dc falling off a patio, and you could take them with you to your next home. We planted with strawberries in the end - result all round!
