How do I get the smell of sick out of a carpet?

Help! Last night the dog was hugely sick on the sitting room carpet (after stealing a pack of butter and eating it . Although obviously a cleaned it up last night this morning the smell is overwhelming.

I thnk I read somehwere that a solutino with Bicarb of Soda helps - I thnk it neutralises teh nast smelly proteins! Google Bicarb of soda and see what you get.

Don't do what I did and buy Baking Soda, they sound very alike you know
