what can i use to freshen up my bathroom carpet?

apart from shake n vac or something like that as i can't afford it this week because of paying insurance excess!

is there anything basic and cheap that will freshen it up a bit until i get my hands on a carpet cleaner?

Rip it up. Carpet in bathroom is minigng.

carpets in bathrooms are just gross. I'd probably remove it, however I don't think that would be an option for you.

Do you have any bi-carb of soda? Sprinkle that on, leave for a while then hoover up. It's goos at absorbing odours.

no choice moondog, there's no tiles or anything under there, just cracked concrete & i cant afford to put tiles down in rented house. not really good i know but atm no choice unless i can get landlord to sort out what needs doing to the house & i dont think thats likely in a hurry since he tried taking me to court for money when he 'forgot' to cash 3 cheques for £1600 between them!
