Care package for an old wardrobe in need of TLC

I have just bought a Victorian wardrobe in bird's eye maple that at some point has been painted white, and then chemically stripped to get the paint back off.

The wood is really dry and a bit knackered looking, what can I use to nourish it and give it a bit of a shine, without resorting to varnish?

Try waxing it, Google 'Fiddes' for lots of products to care for wooden furniture.

Thanks Moshie, have bought some Fiddes wax.

have also put it in the cupboard under the sink, so who knows when I'll get round to doing it.
