Hi

We've had a couple of vacuums over the years and none have been that great - should i spend a fortune on a dyson? will all my vacuuming issues be a thing of the past? carpets and wood floors?

i cant quite believe ive posted about a vacuum cleaner...

Henry is the best, honestly! gets everthing up, never breaks, same suction as day one. Fab! gets cat hairs up, everything! had mine 5 years, it's fantastic...

henry is so usless, we have the dyson animal and is great

Newgirl - the Miele is great, honestly. I vacuum daily (no pets but 3 children and a pretty open plan house downstairs so everything gets trodden through).

It has variable suction/power up to 2000W so pretty powerful. Certainly copes well with my carpets and laminate floors in the dining room and kitchen. Being a cylinder it doesn't have a rotary brush so if you have pets you may want to buy the turbo brush (which I think you can buy separately.)

I hate my Dyson (second one in 6 years) - it's rubbish!

I am going to buy either a Miele or a Sebo can't decide but I've heard both are far better than Dysons.

I hated my Dyson, now have a Henry. I heart my Henry

katpotat · 09/07/2008 15:12

I love my Dyson stowaway, fits right in the wee cupboard under the stairs. Never had any probs...My LO loves it and does a wee dance when i get it out Get one!

anchovies · 09/07/2008 15:26

Another vote for miele, in particular the cat and dog (even if you've not got either!) Comes with the big turbo brush and a little one that is perfect for the stairs.

Thanks to someones suggestion on here I booked a service for my dyson. It costs £65 and they replace all parts (my hose has split) I will let you know how they get on with the service. I was going to get a new vacuum cleaner but this seems to be the cheaper option. I've had mine for 7 years (wedding present)

threestars · 21/08/2008 01:11

mum's got one. sooooo heavy

LittleDorrit · 21/08/2008 10:55

Miele are fab - wouldn't use anything else !

picklepie555 · 21/08/2008 11:34

this might help you decide!
I used to have a Dyson but I'm now the proud owner of a Miele CAT&DOG....love it, love it, love it.

Have had a Dyson animal for two years and just hate it .. for all the money you spend on it there seem to be a few things that are very poor quality on it. My hose cylinder tends to get a kink in it every 10 minutes as you move around the room really annoying and I am forever having problems with the turbo brush attachment stops working and me or the hubby have to dismantle it and the hoses and the interior to get i going again.

I bought a Miele Cat and Dog about 3 months ago and have not yet had to change the bag, I vacuum every day.

It feels like good quality, it has super suction and lovely tools. And it's light.

hashim · 21/08/2008 17:36

Henry Henry Henry. They're the best vac in the world. Hotels, restaurants, shops always (nearly always) use Henry's because they last so long.
Mine is still in perfect working order after 6 years. My previous dyson lasted 6 months.

BigBadMousey · 21/08/2008 17:51

Glad it took the extended guarantee on our Dyson - the entire hoover has been replaced twice over in the past four years. It's just out of guarantee and the hose has split (it lasted a year this time .

I agree with those who recommend a Henry.

Blackduck · 21/08/2008 18:06

I HATE mine - my old panasonic (half the price) was WAY better......

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 21/08/2008 21:28

I used henry when I was a saturday girl. They're not so good. My dyson has served me well for the last 7 and a bit years and it's only the hose needing replacing which has prompted me to get a service.
