Limescale at the *top* of the toilet bowl

How would you get rid of limescale marks at the top of the toilet bowl? Citric acid works for the bottom, but I can't get it to stay on the vertical surfaces of the toilet pan. I'm looking for something natural-ish, not toxic chemicals.

Have you tried using a wet pumice stone?

When I lived in a hard water area I used "Homepro Lift-Off Scale/Stain Remover" bright pink and quite thick so it doesn't run down the bowl. The only current listing I can see for it is https://www.bathroomspareparts.co.uk/homepro-lift-off-scalestain-remover-250ml-lo250ml-8494-p.asp

Nancy Birtwhistle has a recipe for Pure Magic gel that clings to surfaces, it has Xantham gum to thicken it, the recipe is

Citric acid
Boiling water
A dash of washing up liquid
Xantham gum

Mix together, you may need to use a stick blended to get it smooth, allow to cool & fill an old bottle with a squirty top like a shampoo or washing up liquid bottle.

We had this when I moved in to this house.
Managed to get rid of it eventually with repeated applications of 29p white vinegar.

Drench loo roll in the vinegar and plaster it on. Leave overnight. Repeat until gone. Worked very well with a bit of scrubbing with limescale remover at the end.
Cheapest and greenest solution!
