It's a hook to hang things off isn't it?

A hook maybe used to hold back vines? Honestly how could you mistake that for a tap?

It is an old scaffolding hook

If it's under a 1st floor window it's for securing a ladder.

An eyebolt, used for securing things in place.

It can be converted to a tap.👍
All you need to do is remove the eyebolt, run a water supply to the location and fit a tap.......... 😉

i would consider if it wasn’t attatched to my living room and my kitchen wasn’t on the other side😪🤣

also it’s quite close to the ground - it’s below a ground floor window so don’t really see what would be hanging off it

Is it lead? As only the screw bit has rusted. To attach a gate or fence to?

I have those with tensioning wires for training climbing plants (at that level, to stop them growing over the window). See if there’s another one or more or the holes where they used to be.

It's a very large eyebolt. Looks like about two inches to me. They are quite expensive. It is a scaffolding size, but if it is near the ground, I think may have been put in to chain a motorcycle or trailer to. I put one in my garage floor, and one in the side wall. Motorcycle chains fixed to a house are much bigger than bicycle chains, to resist croppers, hacksaws and angle grinders.

If it was high up, I would have said scaffolding, or ladders for cable or satellite. Regulations about working off ladders are quite strict now. I believe the cable companies now fix a socket into the wall, and screw an eye bolt into if, which they remove when finished, and plug the socket. This is because large eyebolts are so expensive. I don't recall quite what I paid for mine, but I remember thinking it was quite a lot.
