BloomingHazel · 01/05/2026 04:17

With spring in the air and nicer weather here/on its way, there's no better time to start a new housekeeping routine!
I will give you a heads up, I've not been on mn daily just lately, so hopefully I'll remember to post the links!

This is a long running thread, but we are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join in.

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day. you have been warned! 😂

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines. Try not to do too much at once, you don't want to get overwhelmed.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through each month, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission. I will explain these further as we come across them.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse (handbag) out. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day - no missions
  • Sunday: renew your spirit - no missions

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change). You can also modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

Daily missions: https://www.flylady.net/daily-mission for the zone we are in.

Baby steps: https://mymerrymessylife.com/flylady-31-baby-steps/ it's not technically flylady, but they're still working on the new site.

Fly Lady

Welcome!

I got lost , big work deadline , no routines stuck , met the deadline and we are currently on our way back from holiday which was exactly what was needed, lots of laughter and relaxation. Ready to regain some sort of control over the running of the home 🙂
Hope everyone’s doing ok ? I missed catching up with the thread !

EnthusiasticDecluttering · 29/05/2026 19:42

I'm happy to do June, it's been a while since I've done it.

My car is clean and my bag is decluttered 😇

Searchingforsparkle · 29/05/2026 22:27

Tada
🥂 everything unpacked
🥂 1 LOL
🥂prepped a New Cross stitch

BloomingHazel · 30/05/2026 03:20

Searching it sounds like your holiday was very much needed! And to have everything unpacked already is a great achievement 🥳

ED thank you so much for volunteering to run the June thread.
Have things calmed down for you? Was it your dad who was needing you to help care for him? I'm sorry if I've got that wrong, it's been a while.

I'm so glad it's the weekend! It's been a short week, but I'm still glad it's here 😊

Saturday is family fun day. What are your plans?

I really need to finish planting my flowers (I still haven't done it!).

Baby Step 30: https://mymerrymessylife.com/flylady-31-baby-steps/30/
Check your calendar for next month. What birthdays and events are coming up? Make a plan to buy gifts/ plan parties/ holidays, etc.
Spend 15 minutes on this. Add cards/ gifts to shopping lists etc.

Searchingforsparkle · 30/05/2026 17:23

Ooo I like the check the calendar for birthdays next month - why have I never noticed this baby step before ? 😂

tada
🥂 3 LOLs , 1 is currently still out on the line
🥂 84 stitches on my cross stitch , I’m wanting to get over 100 stitches today , I’ll be having half an hour on the pattern soon
🥂 work
🥂 Father’s Day cards bought
🥂 trip to B&M which cost a small fortune, even though I only went in for glass cleaning cloth 😂
🥂 a couple of bits for the next holiday and some other essentials

To do :
☑️ update calendar
☑️ clear dining table
☑️ 30 mins on cross stitch
☑️ go out for a walk once it’s cooler
☑️ relook at routines and look ant starting to reintroduce them after a crazy busy month !

BloomingHazel · 30/05/2026 18:49

Searching what design are you doing for your cross stitch?
You have reminded me about father's day though. I will need to take DS shopping so he can pick something out. I never plan ahead, and should!

It’s the ‘out of this world’ pattern by Caterpillar cross stitch , I have their subscription box and I’m also part of their ‘all star stitchers’. I enjoy their patterns , beginner friendly with enough detail to keep the interest on the project ! I have about 700 stitches left of this pattern and it’s on my mind to get it finished 🙂

Oooh, I remember the other one you did now! They are very pretty 😍

I managed to get out and plant more of my flowers. I was fighting the wind so stayed out as long as I could tolerate it. I did finally take some pictures of them too..

Ah beautiful flowers and crosstitch. I'm not quite ready to join in again properly. But just saying hi.

Searchingforsparkle · 31/05/2026 08:30

They are pretty @BloomingHazel! I love the owl plant pot 😍

I cleared the table and got more stitches completed last night but that’s about it ! Started watching code of silence on ITV, seems like it’s going to be a good drama!

Lots on the list to do , I actually have no idea where to start 🤪 re-establish the routines I think and check things off the checklist. Prep for the week ahead - it’s a long half term this time.

tada
✅ morning coffee
✅ 43 stitches (aiming for 100 again)
✅ LOL in the washer

Searchingforsparkle · 31/05/2026 10:11

Tada
✅ 30 mins on morning routine, washed , dressed, beds made , washing gathered, bathroom tidied ready to S&S
✅ 30 mins on catch up , folding clothes and taking them to the rooms
✅ breakfast

I’m going to get some stitching done then carry on doing 30 mins on routines then 30 mins on catch up activity. Hopefully this will help regain a little control 🤞

Hope you’re doing ok @Alwaysgrowing💐

Searchingforsparkle · 31/05/2026 16:02

Tada
✅ an hour on catching up with folding clothes, putting them in room and have started to put clothes away
✅ an hour on daily tasks , S&S, another LOL , quick hoover of playroom, calendar updated for the week ahead
✅ appointment attended
✅ table set for dinner

Still to do :
UNIFORM IRONING - I really don’t like this task 😂 people keep saying I’ll miss it when I no longer have to do it , I can honestly say it is definitely not something I’ll miss about the kids being school age 🤣

Joyful26 · 31/05/2026 16:33

Wow lovely flowers @BloomingHazel! and fab cross stitch too @Searchingforsparkle!

BloomingHazel · 31/05/2026 20:28

Wow, you've been busy today Searching! I have to say that I'm so glad my DC didn't/ don't have to wear school uniform and have them ironed! I'm sorry!

Thank you Joyful26 💐

Ta das so far:
🌷 S&S main bathroom
🌷 LOLs x3
🌷 hot spot cleared
🌷 paperwork sorted
🌷 paperwork shredded (a few months worth, but didn't take very long)
🌷 currently airing the house out

I still need to do more around the house, but it's only 1:30pm!
I am about to put the clean clothes away, then there's more to do:
📌 handwash dishes
📌 rotate DW
📌 S&S 2nd bathroom
📌 put clean handwash dishes away
📌 more organising/sorting (I'm in that mood today to get things done!)
📌 paint nails (fingers and toes, I still haven't done them!)

Thanks so much for the thread @BloomingHazel ! I discovered Flylady recently thanks to this thread. So gfar I’ve had a week of the zone being main bedroom and this week with the zone being the living room. In the two weeks since starting, I’ve been able to do the morning routine and evening routines and weekly blessings to 100% completion. Afternoon routines is hot and miss but still doing more than before discovering flylady.

I was able to do the main bedroom tasks almost to completion and managed to get DP to finish the main bedroom tasks which is quite a feat!

I think he can really see the difference that just a few mins can take. We used to both be very overwhelmed with household tasks but this seems to work for us. I have two things for the living room that I didn’t manage to get done this week but will do them tomorrow morning before cracking on with next weeks zone. I know it’s against the rules, but really motivated.

still astounded how much of a change it is in the house!

BloomingHazel · 31/05/2026 23:17

@BarbarianBabs that is such a great success story! I am so glad that you've been able to achieve what you have this month, and with being your DH involved!

Thank you ED for the link to the new thread. I'll head on over.

@Searchingforsparkle, don't tell anyone but I don't iron uniform. From September until Easter my daughter even wore proper white shirt for the first time. I think I ironed them for her first day of year 3. After that Washed them and hung them up and they're acceptable imo. My mum always complained about ironing and it was my granny's job when she visited. But I do think clothes these days are more anticrease.

I have had lots of fatigue so flylady has slipped.
