weird

charliecat · 12/06/2008 13:30

I am mumsnetting NOW...much more worth while. The reason I was sniffing my toilet is because... theres a hot window cleaner gonna be outside my bathroom tommorow and I wasnt entirely sure if the whiff was so bad it would drift out at him

charliecat · 12/06/2008 13:31

So its doesnt splash, I think. Or maybe he only did it when I was in the bath as my floating mass was distracting, if he kneeeled I was out of sight.

oh good grief is it the 1950s?

is the milkman coming to visit you in your negligee and fluffy slippers?

you are cleaning the loo in case the window cleaner smells it?

Kneeling to wee?!!! I would say he is the culprit, unless he had very very long thighs..

jessiesmummy · 12/06/2008 13:33

Mix some lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda and spead round the bowl leave for a while. It also helps to scoop some of the water out with a cup first so its more concentrated. It does work. If you have a wooden loo seat it might be that. Might need replacing.

IllegallyBrunette · 12/06/2008 13:33

Your xp kneels down to wee

Thank god you got rid, what a weirdo.

charliecat · 12/06/2008 13:38

Can boorow bicarb....thank you will try that
He does have long thighs by the way...not very tall but long thighs lol
Is it so weird? I think the sitting is odder.

charliecat · 12/06/2008 13:39

IllegallyBrunette · 12/06/2008 13:39

Never in my life have I heard of a bloke kneeling down to wee.

charliecat · 12/06/2008 13:49

not even on one knee? lol

OP posts:
BroccoliSpears · 12/06/2008 13:54

If he knelt on one knee, surely the toilet was engaged?

Hahahahahaaa.

Stick a bloo in the cistern tomorrow before hot window cleaner arrives and that's all he'll be able to smell.

southeastastra · 12/06/2008 16:15

lol broccoli. empty the loo and bung down limescale remover.

my 14 year old son is the stray weeing culprit here. i have to take off the loo seat and everything to clean it

Fizzylemonade · 12/06/2008 17:37

I did wonder if anyone else removed their toilet seat to clean it, I do, I have boys.

Can I just say that I think using limescale remover may help as limescale tends to hold the smell of wee.

Also I find the whole kneeling to wee thing very very disturbing!! Why aren't more people freaked out by this behaviour. I mean, picture it, he kneels to wee. Did he do this anywhere else, public toilets, other people's houses????

CarGirl · 12/06/2008 18:09

Is it an old toilet???? Could the enamel coating type stuff have worn so it absorbs the smell? I used that black harpic stuff to get off the limescale off my loo NOTHING else had made an impact on it.

magicfarawaytree · 12/06/2008 18:26

used biological soap powder - apparently good at neutralising the odour of urine whether it be cats or kids. just dilute it in warm water. then rinse with clean water. If you have access to a steam cleaner using in on the bit where the lid joins the seat. also dont forget behind the toilet on the wall and skirting board - even where the screws that attach the seat to the toilet underneath. I find rinsing the walls with diluted white vinegar also helps toilet to smell fresh. we until ds and dh get at it again. and that crack where the toilet meets the floor stinks.

Chandon · 12/06/2008 19:51

I have two boys, and my loo smells like a station´s urinal...

I am teaching them to pee sitting down, to minimize damage....will they turn into weirdos later....?????

laura032004 · 13/06/2008 07:49

I really like the Domestos 5x bleach or some similar name. You use it once a day, but you can smell a lovely bleachy smell every time you flush the loo. No wee smell evident at all! And we don't flush our upstairs loo overnight after DS2 has gone to bed, and it even copes with keeping that odour free

desperatehousewifetoo · 17/06/2008 13:03

I found 'duck odour eliminator' worked really well - you hang it inside your toilet bowl. Had same problem (with smelly loo not kneeling man!) even after cleaning/bleaching thoroughly. Also, spraying febreze on the carpet underneath.

Have you checked that it's not your carpet that's pongy?
