Currently have a Dyson, it is so heavy and won’t go under the bed due to the ball thing. Nightmare doing the stairs.

I have a Miele C3 active cylinder. Our house has a mixture of hard floors, tiles, rugs & carpet. I bought the wonderful parquet floor brush head as well. We have 2 dogs & a cat & it copes well. I always buy the proper Miele dust bags

We have a Henry cordless. It does do under thd bed but no hinge so you have to bend. Best thing is it uses bags - not so eco friendly as a Shark in that respect but I found emptying that thing disgusting - breathing in clouds of dust and having to dig your hands in to get everything out 🤢.
We also have a normal Henry and two (old) Mieles, all pretty good but don’t really bother with them since little Henry arrived - too awkward to lug up the stairs.
I’ve had two Dysons in the past, both useless, and the Shark burnt itself out.

Agree with a Henry

I replaced a big heavy upright corded ball Dyson about 10 years ago with a lightweight cordless stick Dyson (v6 maybe?) and it's still going strong. I bought directly from Dyson as they were price matching other places and also throwing in free accessories so I have all the different types of heads for using it as a handheld (great for the car and stairs and dusting shelves etc) and two big main heads for floors (hard and carpet). I have had to replace the battery once (after about 8 years). It makes vacuuming so easy, as you can whip it out for a 10 second job just as easy as doing the whole house, without worrying about lugging about a big one and finding plug sockets.

I have the shark stratos cordless. Like pp said it folds for under beds etc only thing is I bought an extra battery as the battery length isn't great depending on how large of a space you have.

I've just bought a Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Pet Vacuum Cleaner IP3251UKT - it's fantastic! Originally bought a top of the range Dyson and returned it.

Went through a Dyson phase but have had Henry for years. Reliable and solid and can be fixed with gaffer tape, should the need arise.

Can't beat a good old fashioned Henry.

Definitely. The best vacuum you can buy.

We have a Miele CX1. Lovely and light for carrying up and down stairs and as long as you keep the filters clean has great suction.

@pastabest
Many thanks for this recommendation - CX1 Cat and Dog. After spending ages going through all the options, we plumped for this one, bought it and picked it up yesterday. It is exactly what I was looking for. Immediately on getting it out of the box I did under the bed... wow! amazing! Also great for stairs and (for me) so so much better than the Dyson.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
