New coir doormat - shedding SO much fibre, should I just stop trying to hoover it all out?

I had one which wasn't cheap and nasty either in the end I gave up and threw the thing out.

Can you pick it up or is it fitted? If loose, try hanging over the clothes line and beating it. Hard.
