Do you have a floor-drobe?? (Aka where do your worn but not dirty clothes go?)

Hi wise mumsnetters,

Bit of a weird one - but as the title says really…where do the clothes go that you’ve worn but don’t yet need a wash?

For context I don’t like putting them back in drawers/wardrobe. I’m aware some people may find this strange but I just don’t like it!! Sometimes they smell a bit of cooking, or the bottom of trousers might have been in a puddle. If money was no issue and the world didn’t need saving then I’d happily wash them (love freshly washed clothes!!) - but not the case.

Currently they end up draped over the end of the bed, on a radiator or on the floor!!

any ideas??

I have a clothes rail and chair in the spare room for this purpose

We have a small towel stand in the bedroom, like the one in this photo (not exactly the same, ours is about 10 years old now)

This is a great idea! We don't have room for a chair anymore.

My clothes are currently draped over the chest of drawers which always annoys me. I might get 2 because DHs clothes are always in a pile by the door where I trip over them on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night 🙄

I'm with you and I designate a place in the bedroom for them, then try to wear them on the next possible day. If they sit there for too long then I put them into the wash so it doesn't look messy.

For me it has to be minimal effort, so I like a chair or an ottoman type thing, possibly a rail.

At the moment our bedroom is a bit of a dumping ground, so it's a cardboard box.

I have a freestanding wooden towel rail, where clothes that I haven't finished wearing are draped.

I also have a a set of coat hooks, where I hang worn-once clothes on hangers to keep them from creasing.

In addition, I installed a 1-metre curtain rail on the wall at waist height, which is an overflow rail for when the towel rail is full.

Nothing ever goes onto the floor!
