Steam cleaner for upholstery and bathroom

Does such a cleaner exist? I want to clean a sofa back, headboard, bathroom shower cubicle including tiles and an oven door.

I'm getting confused about them now as some say they can be used on hard surfaces, car seats etc then go on to say not advisable for upholstery.

Does anyone have a steam cleaner that can do everything?

Steam can be used to clean some upholstery fabrics but nothing that is nylon based (especially Dralon) as the heat melts the tips of each individual filament turning them into microscopic biros.

Thanks @Phoenix1Arisen. It should be ok as it's not nylon based. I just can't seem to find a magical steamer that will do upholstery and bathroom tiles.

What's your budget?;
I've got a Karcher sc3 and I use it on just about everything. It's wonderful.

You can adjust the steam level.

There seems to be some black Friday deals around at the moment @IvePiercedMyFootOnASpike. I was looking at the karcher 2 earlier - I didn't know there was a 3!

Can you tell me what you use it on that gives good results please?

Op, I've just done the stair and landing carpet. The whole bathroom, floor, tiles toilet etc. (don't do sealant though, as it takes it off).
I've cleaned the oven, the microwave and the kitchen worktops.
The dog's bed.
Living room rug and all the tiles flooring.
My house is spotless! 😂
You can use it on windows, apparently but I've never tried that.
The 3 is much better than the 2 btw. You can keep adding water without having to wait for it to heat up again.

ETA also the mattress on our bed!

Sounds good @IvePiercedMyFootOnASpike.

My main concern is the grubby head patches on the sofa and headboard (why do men's heads do this??) so I'm not sure if the karcher would remove this? Reading through the details, it says it can freshen upholstery rather than clean it.

I'm now debating whether to just get a Vax spotwash upholstery cleaner instead and a small handheld steamer for the bathroom tiles, oven door etc.

It's a dilemma haha.
Have you tried diluted white vinegar on the patches?

Goatblu · 25/11/2025 09:34

No, I've tried Dr Beckman stuff which cleans it ok but then makes the rest of the sofa look grubby 😂

Shampoo is great for removing grubby head patches in my experience.

Bring back antimacassars!
