Are Meile vacuum cleaners worth the money?

Hey just wanting a bit of a handhold as this is quite a big purchase for us. I've had pet Vax hoovers for the last decade or so and they only seem to last a few years before packing in, my current one still works but it's small and doesn't manage with the amount of hair our pets produce. My mother has a Meile cat and dog she started using them over 20 years ago and is only onto her second ever the first one still works but she decided to gift it to her sister about a decade ago and got a new one. Is this a typical experience with a Meile vacuum? It's more then id usually spend but I have the money for it right now and if it would be more effective and last well it's worth the money. Are they worth the cost?

I purchased my first Meile cat & dog about 8 years ago, I’ve got 3 dogs hoover daily and it’s still going strong.
I love that i can easily clean it out every so often

anniegun · 20/10/2025 14:25

Mine has lasted for about 10 years and shows no sign of giving up.

Blarn · 20/10/2025 14:28

Yes. Once you have a Miele you don't have to buy another vacuum. We have the very cheapest model and even that is fantastic.

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2025 14:34

My Miele Cat & Dog C3 must be 15 years old and still going strong.

Pabbel · 20/10/2025 14:35

Still perfect 10+ years of use, wouldnt hesitate to buy another one.

FairFuming · 20/10/2025 14:37

Thank you! Was really hoping mums experience wasn't a rare one. I've just ordered my own, it will make life so much easier as I have to empty and clean filters half way through hoovering right now because my Labrador is casting!

I have an original red pet Miele which is over 20 years old and still going strong but I use it as my DIY hoover now because for 6 years I've had a black version (fancier controls which are easier to use and the tools live inside the body so don't get lost) which I won! Love my Miele vacuum!

chouxchoux · 20/10/2025 14:54

I have the Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog, it's absolutely brilliant.

The older ones are far better than the newer ones. The newer ones are not German built.

Goldfsh · 20/10/2025 15:25

Mine is over 20 years old and has incredible suckage!! 2.2 kw. Think they are banned now.

I've had it serviced recently to replaced the worn flex and the hoover engineer was in awe of it. He said 'never let it go!'

So yes they are great. I also have a cheaper cordless thing that I use for every day vacuuming.

Seymour5 · 20/10/2025 15:30

We’ve had one for years! Best vacuum we’ve ever had.

MrsMariaReynolds · 20/10/2025 15:49

Yes! Absolutely! Mine is 15 years old and still works great.

Wattage isn't the same as suction power. Newer Miele models are more efficient than the older models, despite being lower wattage (better technology, better airflow, better filtration).

tobee · 20/10/2025 16:15

Mine is good but very heavy and it needs bags and they are ridiculously expensive.

I think ours must be much older than this. Mind you by MN standards it has been very lightly used.

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 20/10/2025 16:18

Yes. Ours is 12 years old and still going strong.

BeaTwix · 20/10/2025 16:19

Yes.

I bought one last year for a relative. I don’t notice any difference between it and my 10yr old one.

always get one with tool storage inside the case. The clip on tool things are fucking useless and annoying (I actually got rid of the vacuum I hated it so much).

Onearmedscissor · 20/10/2025 16:32

We've had ours for 12 years, still has strong suction but the attachments are getting a little past it.

You can buy replacements on the Meile website, or also just on ebay. I've done that recently!

LlamaNoDrama · 20/10/2025 17:25

I bought one earlier this year and the brush broke and the suction died.

Gatekeeper · 20/10/2025 17:28

Mine is 10+ years old and brilliant. Looks a little worn but the suction is top notch

ALittleBitofWensleydale · 20/10/2025 17:48

I bought one recently and I hate it!

ThisFoxInSocks · 20/10/2025 22:18

Don't go near the robot miele, it is really terrible, and the customer service was apalling when I complained

Autumngirl5 · 20/10/2025 22:32

Mine is 12 years old now and still works brilliantly. I would definitely recommend Miele.
