How do you get rid of stale smoke smell from ornamental teapots?

My Gran has just been left a huge box of teapots from her friends will and they reek.
I have brought them home to clean (I thought they were just dusty) and don't know where to start.
Any ideas? She won't throw them away as they are from her friend of many years.
They are outside in the rain at the moment as my kitchen was beginning to smell like an ashtray
TIA.

Bicarb and vinegar are both good at getting rid of nasty smells in general, so they might work on smoke too.

Or wash them in soapy water and then leave them outside, with the lids off, for a couple of days (as long as you have a safe place for them, where they won't get knocked over or something)

The smell should go after a while anyway.

Good luck - cleaning a huge box of teapots will put the afternoon in nicely for you
