Hair hair hair and more hair

We have a blended family of 6 kids and all of them have long, thick hair. Plus we have a black cocker spaniel.

I spent this morning trying to clean the bathrooms but even one wipe of the sponge ends up full of hair and means the next sponge wipe, wipes the hair everywhere. I stop and pull the hair off but even doing that, I still have the fine hair from the dog and Dp to contend with.

Are there any magic tricks I’m missing to get rid of hair?

Nope. We have a similar problem - arguably worse because the hair is blonde and doesn’t show up as much.
A silicone brush is very good on carpets for getting hair up.

Thanks that’s a good idea. It’s a nightmare isn’t it!

Get a medium-sized child to rub the carpets while wearing rubber gloves. It pulls out horrifying amounts which you can then just bin, and they find it very satisfying.

If it's that bad I'd go over stuff with a damp paper towel first which you can chuck. Then the sponge or cloth. Not as eco but beats picking hair out of a sponge 🤮

Rubber broom for all the surfaces before using a Miele cat & dog hoover.

Oh god re: carpets + rugs - we have rag doll cats who like to roll on the rugs and leave a film of hair.

I have a henry and hoovering normally gets some up but once a week, to get all the hair up, i have to put it on hard floor setting (brushes down) and drag it across the rugs like that. It's really hard work and you have to get it at a certain angle so the head doesn't sort of 'bounce' across the carpet. Horrifying but satisfying amount of hair stuck in the bristles which you tear off while the hoovers still running so it flies straight up the tube.
