Shower door looks dirty no matter what I do!

My shower doors always appear grubby and smeary despite me trying seemingly everything.

I've tried.

Windex and a sponge
Windex and a cloth
Mixture of water and dish soap (as recommended by family friend) with both sponge and cloth
Mr Muscle
Dettol spray

It just never looks clean! What am I doing wrong?

Do you live in a hard water area?

I do and mine always looked minging no matter what.
Until someone told me to spray limescale remover directly on the glass, give it a scrub with a scrub daddy sponge and let it sit.
After about 15 mins, rinse it off and mine is always gleaming after that!!

The limescale deposits look a lot like soap scum and water marks on glass 🤷🏻‍♀️ but when you start scrubbing, you can feel that it’s sort of crispy

You need Viakal … works a treat!

Spray all over, give a quick wipe, rinse off.

Viakal or cillit bang (orange limescale one) scrub daddy like the user above said.

Viakal or vinegar and then moving forward wipe with a dry cloth everytime you get out .

Yep! This stuff is the one for showers.

Funnyduck60 · 01/07/2025 11:16

Do you use soap? If yes then stop it causes horrible soap acum. Secondly give it a really good clean with a descale occasionally then after every shower wash it down using shower head and squidgy down.

Shopping for Viakal!

Sainsbury have their own Viakal version which is half the cost.

But honestly the shower door might be beyond repair. Mine was grotty when I moved in 9 years ago and I tried EVERYTHING - nothing works, it's ingrained.

A dishmatic wand with half fairy, half vinegar works wonders on my shower doors.
