TMH The two things I found most useful with preschool learning is use the sound rather than the name of letters, and always use lower case.

Jas · 20/05/2008 12:51

x post with FGS saying the same thing

What happened to the cat FGS?

OP posts:
FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 12:53

Not sure Jas. Found him howling in pain earlier and there was a trail of blood and he cant walk on his leg. Which leads me to next Q - how do I get dried blood out of carpet?

Jas · 20/05/2008 12:56

Ummm.....start with cold water. Not sure what next.

FGS What did the cat do. Smudge my cat is wincing at the thought

He was 3 in March. I always use letter sounds and lower case.

FGS He wants to write - so I need something for letter formation. He knows left and right and all that stuff.

he is just too bright. I wanted thick kids, much easier

I had the fright of my life yerterday to hear to DS2 count to 10.

I have no idea where they get their brains from - not my side. DH did all his schooling a year early.

I bought a couple of workbooks in the £1 shop so will have a read of them.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 12:59

Mad - Just googled letter formation and found this. Looks quite good. There are lots of resources around.

Dont know what cat has done. vet didnt think it was a fight so I guess he could have fallen

Blood in carpet advice

OP posts:
FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 13:02

Thanks Jas. Also Mad - the cbeebies magazine is really good as there are letter tracing tyoe things. DD loves them as her fave characters are in them and they cover letters, numbers and colouring.

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2008 13:03

Thanks FGS I just dont want to give him bad habits.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 13:04

I know. DD does her Es the wrong way but wont listen to me when I try and show her the right way....

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2008 13:04

We get cbeebies mag and do them any way. I got a subscribtion with my tesco points for him at christmas

tortoise · 20/05/2008 13:05

Had a busy few hours. Got a fair bit done, little bits here and there mainly (i get distracted to easily in other rooms!).
Front room is tidy and hoovered too. Even ended up cleaning DS2's footie boots when i put some other shoes on the shoe rack!

FGS Poor cat, hope he is ok.
TMH Letter formation is tricky now. DD1 is doing joined up already. There are lots of work books in shops to just let them draw over lines/letters/numbers. They are a Good start i think.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 13:16

Just remembered we got a really good letters workbook from WHSmith.

Spoke to vet and cat has a fracture on his tibia. Same leg he had operated on last year Collect him later. Trying not to think about £

sagacious · 20/05/2008 13:16

Pc Plod was waiting outside the house for me (25mins early) ..That'll get the neighbours talking

He was about 18, very sweet looked like he should be an extra in the Bill

So I showed off

I told him I expected the culprits to be apprehended with 24 hrs and to have bobbies patrolling the streets every 2 hrs

I also said that "every copper I know was bullied at school"

I think I scared him he literally ran out of the house and zoomed off in his liddle panda pop car.

I am a mean girl

FGS hope you're cats ok

tortoise · 20/05/2008 13:18

sagacious lol! Naughty! I read bobbies as boobies!

fgs hope your cat is ok, it happened to my sis's dog the other year poor little mite. not nice for them.

mad your pre-school doesnt want to help encourage ds

saga tutut poor baby policeman

tort hope tooth gets sorted quickly

jas thats a very kind thought. am very pleased have been round town and managed to get a few bargains

from poundland
rubber mallet
mess cooking tin thing
little lamp
and something else but i have forgotten what

from woolworths
a wind up lantern £7.99
a chair for dd £5.99
and a game that i wanted when i was little and didnt get (a ball you put water ballons in play catch and get soaked!)

from argos
a 500gsm (very thick) sleeping bag for ds was on half price so cost £15 instead of £30
a hose connector thing for the cooker
a pan set which was 12.99 down to 9.99

so feeling the dent in my pocket, but now have everything i need (assuming cooker works, if not they do have single burner ones in woolworths for £10 at the mo. so feeling very much like sticking fingers up at xp and saying haha you not spolied our fun, in a very childish manner

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2008 14:26

Dyls You have done fab with the stuff.

We need a mallet, so will pop in £1 shop. 2 fingures up to X

FGS sorry about the cat

babyj well done

Bianca Wow you have managed a lot

I have done a general tidy and also ironed and put away clothes.

I am going to wake DS2 next and go and collect DS1 from Preschool

We are then off round friends for play and cups of tea. It is the one who broke her back and she is doing really well. I am going to lift some pots for her to plan. The only thing she can not really manage now is heavy lifting.

dylsmum1998 · 20/05/2008 14:35

TMH if you cant get one in your pound shop they down to 1.50 in halfords now as well, and i think it was wilkis they were around the 1.50 mark too. lots of places are selling the smaller peices of camping bits (lamps tables etc) really cheap at the mo.
am feeling very proud of myself including the tent i bought at the weekend i have spent £100 roughly getting everything i need to go camping for me and the 2 dc.
and found some very reasonable local sites so we can just disappear off when we like through the summer. i can't wait

tortoise · 20/05/2008 18:44

Hello.
I have temp filling. Have to go back in a few weeks for proper one and 2 days after that one for more filling. mouth is in a bad way! He was my new dentist as old one just doing private. He was ok. Bit weird lol! He asked a few Q's to start with inc saying 'Are you p r e g n a n t?' Yes, he spelt it out! As if DD's would understand anyway! I managed not to lol!

Mouth feels ok but tastes foul! Really yukky!

dylsmum1998 WOW well done on your bargains. We camped last year but with no car it was a bit of a pain. Couldn't take much and had to buy meals out. Tent was really heavy too.

Ludaloo · 20/05/2008 19:07

Hi ladies....just a quick hello, off to have a bath.

I have been out all day....standing in for one of the leaders at nursery this morning, then town this pm.

Have just had a quick glance through....

Jas kicking the fridge method never fails!

FGS ooooh hope the cat is ok, and the blood comes out the carpet.

scatty my race for life is on June 11th....not long to go now [gulp]!!

*tort8 glad you got to the dentist....you are very brave (unlike me!)

Hi to all

tortoise · 20/05/2008 19:40
