Air filter that might clear diesel fumes from cars and planes

I would like to buy a home air filter that would also pickup diesel particles as near an airport - anyone any experience?
There seems to be filters for dirt and dust but would they pick up diesel .

No planes, use jet fuel not diesel.

Have a look at the air filters sold at John Lewis . It's all about particulate size. Diesel particulates are quite large so a good air filter will clear these out.

I have this air purifier because of allergies. It is brilliant at removing dust and pollen.
I live in rurally so don't have the same issues as you, but this device can remove the smallest particles, so I think it would work.

Look for one that removed smells and/or formaldehyde. That will filter everything. They're more expensive than just dust purifiers and take more expensive filters

A HEPA filter should be pretty effective so choose a device that uses this type of filter. You'll need to get the right sized unit for your room (it will typically tell you what volume of room they are effective for).

PP is correct that Jet planes use kerosene. Non jet aircraft fuel (avgas) still contains lead so definitely worth filtering if there is significant non jet traffic at the airport. A lot of the vehicles servicing the airport on the ground will use diesel as well as all the traffic the airport generates from passengers driving cars, buses etc so the exposure will be hefty for those living nearby.

Thanks everyone, helpful information. I don't suppose Kerosene fumes are good for you - but perhaps not as bad as diesel. Possibly harder to filter.
